The country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, has finally launched the CNG variant of its fourth-generation Swift in India. The new Swift CNG has been launched with a starting price tag of Rs 8.20 lakh. This time around, the Swift CNG will be offered in three variants, namely the VXI, VXI (O), and the ZXI. The newest CNG iteration of the Swift is Rs 90,000 more expensive than the standard petrol-powered variants.
Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG: Pricing
As stated, the Swift CNG will be offered in three different variants. The first is the VXI variant, which has been priced at Rs 8.20 lakh. On the other hand, the petrol-powered VXI variant is priced at Rs 7.3 lakh, making it Rs 90,000 cheaper. Next up in the lineup is the VXI (O) variant.
The CNG VXI (O) has been priced at Rs 8.47 lakh. Meanwhile, the petrol-powered VXI (O) has been priced at Rs 7.56 lakh. Lastly, this is the first time that the ZXI variant of the Swift is getting the CNG kit. This particular variant has been priced at Rs 9.2 lakh. As for the standard petrol-powered ZXI, it costs Rs 8.29 lakh.
2024 Swift CNG: Powertrain
Now coming to the main highlight of the Swift CNG, and that is its engine. The company introduced the fourth-generation Swift with the new 1.2-litre Z12E engine. This engine, in the standard petrol guise, makes 80 bhp and 111 Nm of torque. Now, with the addition of the CNG kit,
this engine now produces 69.75 bhp and 101.8 Nm of torque. Prior to this, the third generation of the Swift CNG made 77 bhp. As per Maruti Suzuki, the new Swift will offer a mileage of 32.85 km/kg (ARAI claimed). Additionally, the Swift CNG will only come equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission.
It has to be noted that the Swift CNG will get the same single tank cylinder placed in the boot of the car. It does not get the twin-cylinder CNG kit, which was being anticipated. The twin CNG kit is offered by Tata and Hyundai, and it is more space-efficient as it is placed underneath the boot.
2024 Swift CNG: Features
As for the features offered with the Swift CNG VXI, this variant comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, and steering-mounted controls for the infotainment screen. It also gets body-colored door handles and bumpers, and 15-inch steel wheels.
As for the VXI (O) variant, it comes equipped with a few more features than the VXI variant. These features include a push-start button and rear speakers. Now, coming to the Swift ZXI variant, this variant will be the most feature-loaded.
The ZXI trim comes equipped with features such as LED headlights with L-shaped LED DRLs. It will also get a set of LED fog lights on the lower section of the new front bumper. The CNG ZXI will also get 15-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, a rear camera, and parking sensors. It will also get a rear wiper, washer, and defogger as well.
Apart from this, on the inside, this variant will come with a bigger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger, steering-mounted controls, and push-button start and stop.
