In order to boost the sales of the already hit-seller hatchback, Maruti Suzuki has introduced a new special edition of the 2024 WagonR. This new special edition is called the WagonR Waltz Edition. MSIL has launched this new model with a price tag of Rs 5.65 lakh. As part of the new WagonR Waltz Edition, the company has added a number of exterior design upgrades along with features on the inside.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Waltz Edition
Starting off with the exterior design upgrades, the company has given the new WagonR Waltz Edition a chrome grille, fog lights, and fog light garnish. This edition also gets front and rear bumper protectors as well. Moving on to the side profile, it gets wheel arch claddings, side skirts, and side moulding on the doors as well.
As for the features added on the inside, the new WagonR Waltz Edition gets a new 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system and new floor mats. The company has also added a security system and a reverse parking camera. Apart from these features, the rest of the car remains the same as the standard model.
Powertrain
Now coming to the powertrain details, the WagonR Waltz Edition has received no changes under the bonnet. This means that it is still powered by the same 1-litre K10C 3-cylinder petrol engine. This motor generates a maximum power of 65 bhp and 89 Nm of maximum torque. It is offered with both a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox.
There is also a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine on offer. This engine makes 88 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. It also comes with a manual as well as an automatic transmission option. Lastly, the company also offers the WagonR with a CNG kit. The WagonR CNG makes 55 bhp and 82 Nm of torque.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR Sales
Just a few months ago, Maruti Suzuki announced that the latest generation of the WagonR, which launched back in 2019, has crossed 10 lakh unit sales. The fiscal year of 2023 was the best year in the 5.5 years it took Maruti to dispatch 10 lakh units of the new WagonR. In FY 2023, Maruti Suzuki sold 2,12,340 units of the WagonR.
Meanwhile, the second-best fiscal year was FY2024, where the company managed to sell 2,00,117 units. Surprisingly, the least number of units dispatched by Maruti Suzuki was in FY2019, when the brand only reported sales of 41,873 units. Currently, the WagonR has an average monthly sale of more than 16,000 units.
WagonR Electric
Although Maruti later scrapped this plan, the WagonR was on track to become the first EV from the brand. Back in 2021, a few spy pictures of the WagonR electric were shared on the internet. These images showed that a completely undisguised version of the WagonR electric was being tested on Indian soil.
However, this model never came into production. Now, taking the honor of being the first-ever electric Maruti Suzuki car, the company is working on the development of the eVX electric SUV. The model is slated to be launched in the first three months of next year. It will offer a 60 kWh battery pack and a range of around 550 km on a single full charge.
