Nissan launched the new Magnite facelift in India on the fourth of October. It has the same ex-showroom starting price as the pre-facelift- 5.99 lakh. This price, however, is introductory and valid for just the first 10,000 bookings. Though changes on the new SUV might seem small to many, Nissan has done slight rejigs in variants and what they offer. The new Magnite offers more value than its predecessor. In a recent video by MR Cars, the host explains the differences between the base variants of the pre-facelift Magnite and the new one.
With the facelift, Nissan has brought its global variant nomenclature to the Magnite. Six variants are available: Visia, Visia+, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna+. The pre-facelift model used to have variant names such as XE, XL, XV Exe, XV, and XV Pre. The new names could confuse at least some of you. The Visia, despite how fancy it sounds, is the entry point.
In the video, the host has two Magnites parked side by side- one of which is the facelift and the other the pre-facelift. Both are finished in Black. The pre-facelift car seems to already have an owner and doesn’t look like a dealer stock. It has been fitted with a music system- something unheard of on a stock base-variant.
Pre-facelift Magnite XE vs Facelifted Magnite Visia: Differences
The facelift comes with a handful of exterior styling changes, some of which can be seen on the base variants as well. The front fascia differs between the two. The facelift’s grille gets Gloss Black detailing, and large Chrome trims on either sides. These are available on the base variant as well. Plus, the front bumper now gets a faux skid plate and large fog lamp housing. The old car had a completely different design for these.
On the facelift, the Chrome elements almost touch the headlamps, while the previous model had more space between the light and the Chrome surround. On the side, almost everything remains the same between the two. However, the facelift comes with Chrome door handles even on the base variant, while the old model had body-coloured door handles. The rear design of both the facelift and pre-facelift models remains identical. However, the facelift gets 60:40 split seats at the rear, unlike the predecessor that used to come with a single-piece unit.
The interior layout remains identical on both vehicles. The Visia comes with notable reworks on its door panels and better trims and finishes inside. The colour schemes are also different. The pre-facelift used to offer just two airbags while the facelift gets six. On the Magnite XE, the rear bench had no armrests or integrated cup holders. However, the Visia offers these. The rear armrest even has a space to put your smartphone in. It also comes with ISOFIX mounts for added safety.
Most of these changes are quite useful and practical. It is interesting to note that these have come at no extra costs. The base-variant’s price continues to be at 5.99 lakh, ex-sh. Previously, the XE variant was not the best in terms of VFM. The most VFM buy then was the XV Exe. However, on the facelift, the Visia delivers more value than what XE used to, thanks to these improvements.
Magnite Visia Powertrain Specifications
The mechanical front remains untouched on the new Magnite. Out of the two available powertrains, the Visia is available only with the 1.0L, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol that generates 72 PS and 96 Nm. Both an AMT and a manual transmission are offered.
