The Skoda Kylaq sub-compact SUV has quickly managed to grab a lot of eyeballs in the country, mostly due to the fact that it offers a number of segment-first specs. Skoda Kylaq: Highlights
Before jumping into the details of all the features and tech offered in its variants, we have to mention the highlights of the newly launched Kylaq. This SUV, thanks to its 1.0-litre TSI motor, which generates 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, is capable of doing a sprint of 0-100 kmph in just 10.5 seconds. This makes it the quickest sub-compact SUV in the segment.
In addition to this, the Kylaq also boasts the highest top speed in its segment. Where other sub-compact SUVs raise the white flag at around 180 kmph, the Kylaq can reach a top speed of 188 kmph. As stated, being the only German vehicle in its segment, it boasts very high build quality.
Skoda Kylaq: Variants Explained
Classic
The first and most affordable variant in the Skoda lineup is the Classic variant. This particular variant has been priced at Rs 7.89 lakh, which makes it one of the most affordable SUVs in its segment. Skoda is offering the Kylaq Classic with only the 6-speed manual transmission option.
On the outside, it comes with a set of 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers. As for the interior, its list of features includes fabric seats, tilt-adjustable steering, manual air conditioning system, rear AC vents, and analogue dials with a digital MID.
The base variant also gets a front armrest, powered ORVMs, and a 12V socket for the people in front. Skoda is also offering the base Classic trim Kylaq with 4 speakers. However, it is not offering the base variant with an infotainment system.
In terms of safety, Skoda has not held back. It is offering the base Classic variant with a ton of safety features. The list includes 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC (electronic stability control), ISOFIX child seat anchors, and traction control.
Apart from these, it is also offering adjustable headrests for all passengers, central locking, three-point seatbelts for all passengers, auto engine start-stop, and power windows as well. Overall, the Kylaq’s base variant is one of the most feature-loaded base variants in its segment.
Signature
Next up in the Skoda Kylaq lineup is the Signature variant. This particular variant gets both the 6-speed manual as well as the 6-speed automatic gearbox. The former has been priced at Rs 9.59 lakh and the latter at Rs 10.59 lakh.
In terms of features, the Signature trim will be offered with all the features of the Classic trim but will get a few more additions. These include 16-inch alloy wheels finished in silver color, rear defogger, 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and dual-tone dashboard, seats, and door panels.
It will also get steering-mounted controls, chrome garnish on AC vents and door handles, 2 tweeters to increase the sound quality, USB type-C charging ports at the front, and a rear parcel shelf. As for the safety features, they remain the same with the addition of the tire pressure monitoring system.
Signature+
The third variant in the Skoda Kylaq lineup is the Signature+ variant. Like the standard Signature variant, it will also be offered with both the 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. Pricing will be Rs 11.40 and Rs 12.40 lakh, respectively.
Coming to features, this variant will get additional features including power-folding ORVMs, a much larger and premium-looking 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, and a digital instrument gauge cluster. It will also have a rear center armrest.
Other features will include cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with chrome garnish, and paddle shifters in the automatic transmission variant.
Prestige
Finally, the top-of-the-line Prestige variant will be priced at Rs 13.35 lakh and Rs 14.40 lakh for manual and automatic transmission options, respectively. In terms of features, the top-spec variant gets 17-inch diamond-cut multi-spoke alloy wheels, a powered electric sunroof, and a rear wiper and washer.
On the inside, it gets ventilated and powered front seats, leatherette upholstery, a wireless smartphone charger, and an auto-dimming IRVM. Overall, the Skoda Kylaq is a very value-for-money vehicle that offers German premiumness and quality with a reliable engine.
