Each and every day, we hear news of someone scamming another person or an organization. However, most of these scams are carried out by people who are older in age. This time around, a case of a Rs 21.6 crore scam has been reported, which was executed by a 23-year-old young man. This young individual, after the embezzlement of money, bought himself a Rs 1.2 crore BMW, a Rs 1.3 crore luxury SUV, and a BMW superbike worth Rs 32 lakh.

23-year-old embezzles Rs 21.6 crore
This case of embezzlement was executed by a 23-year-old computer operator named Harshal Kumar Kshirsagar. He was employed on a contractual basis by a state-run sports complex in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. As per the reports, his official salary was only Rs 13,000.
Kshirsagar, who worked for the sports complex, used the old letterhead from the organization to send an official letter to the bank. With this letter, he requested them to change the email address to one he created. The accused reportedly changed only a single letter in the old email of the sports complex and thereby gained access to all the information.
He managed to gain access to the internet banking of the sports complex using OTPs from his newly planted email address. As per sources, the 23-year-old transferred Rs 21.6 crore into 13 different bank accounts between July 1 and December 7, 2023.
Kshirsagar, in order to avoid getting caught by the authorities, used forged documents to conduct these illegal transactions. Due to this, he went undetected for a few months. However, as with all such deeds, the entire scam was eventually exposed.
How did the scam get exposed?
As per reports, an official from the sports department noticed a financial discrepancy. To understand what had happened, the official made a complaint to the authorities. It was then discovered by the Maharashtra police that 23-year-old Harshal Kumar Kshirsagar was behind the entire embezzlement.
At the moment, Kshirsagar is evading the police. However, the authorities have managed to arrest Yashoda Shetty, a colleague of Kshirsagar, for helping him. In addition to Shetty, her husband, BK Jeevan, has also been arrested.
Lavish lifestyle of this scammer
With the Rs 21.6 crore embezzled by Kshirsagar, it has been found that he bought himself a Rs 1.2 crore BMW luxury car. He also bought a Rs 1.3 crore luxury SUV and a Rs 32 lakh superbike from BMW. The young man also purchased a 4BHK luxury apartment near the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar airport for his girlfriend.
Additionally, he bought diamond-studded glasses. The police authorities have reported that an SUV worth Rs 35 lakh was also bought by BK Jeevan, an accomplice of Kshirsagar. Presently, this SUV has not been accounted for and is being tracked down by the authorities.
Will this scammer be arrested?
The Maharashtra police are currently investigating this matter, and most likely, the scammer Harshal Kumar Kshirsagar will be arrested. However, at the moment, only BK Jeevan and his wife, Yashoda Shetty, have been caught by the authorities. They have been arrested for helping Kshirsagar move some funds to their personal accounts, which were then used to purchase an SUV.
