Reckless driving is so common on our roads that people have started normalizing it. This is not a good trend, and cops and authorities often get involved in such matters, trying to take necessary action to control or stop it. One such action was taken not against one but six individuals by the Ahmedabad city traffic police. These individuals were traveling in multiple SUVs and were seen performing stunts on public roads. The video of the stunts went viral on the internet, prompting the cops to take action.
The video of these men performing stunts on a public road went viral on the internet. In this video, we see these men traveling in a convoy of SUVs, including a Mahindra Thar, Tata Harrier, and Mahindra Scorpio.
The SUVs are seen on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway, or SG Highway. In this video, we see the drivers rashly driving their vehicles through busy city roads. Additionally, we also see a person standing out of the sunroof of a moving Mercedes-Benz.
In fact, if you look carefully, the video itself is shot by a person who was probably standing out of the sunroof of a moving vehicle. According to reports, the group had blocked the road completely and was performing stunts using the SUVs. The video of these SUV owners was posted online, and in no time, the Ahmedabad police started receiving complaints against the men.
The police department and officers were harshly criticized by netizens and locals as this was happening right under the nose of the authorities. The arrested individuals have been identified as Max Patel, 19, a Gota resident; Pritam Semria, 26, a Mehsana resident; Govindsing Chauhan, 30, a Ramol resident; Miteshgiri Gauswami, 27, a Gota resident; Aashish Prajapati, 26, a Ranip resident; and Ishwarsinh Rathod, 22, a resident of Vastral. One of the accused, Manish Goswami, is said to be absconding. While we know that these men were arrested, it is unclear if the traffic police have seized their vehicles or issued any challan against the SUVs.
According to reports, the group was blocking the road and creating inconvenience for other road users. An FIR has been lodged by the SG-2 Traffic Police Station. After receiving complaints, the traffic police formed a team to locate these SUVs and made the arrests.
As mentioned above, one of the accused is absconding, and the cops are trying their best to locate him. The officers said that Manish was in a Mahindra Scorpio SUV and probably drove it back to Sanand.
Public Roads & Stunts
Public roads and stunts do not go hand in hand. Public roads are for everyone, and if you perform stunts on them, you are not only putting the lives of other road users at risk.
If you look at the video carefully, these individuals were performing stunts on a busy highway. The chances of losing control of the vehicle were quite high as they were swerving the cars from one lane to another.
An innocent road user, completely unaware of the group’s actions, might simply run into one of these SUVs and injure themselves. This is clearly irresponsible behavior, and without any doubt, the group was putting their own lives as well as the lives of other road users at risk.
