BYD is gearing up to launch their new EV in India- the E6 facelift, which will be called BYD EMAX7 on launch. The manufacturer has now started taking reservations for the electric MPV. Starting 21 September, buyers can book their EMAX7 EVs against payments of Rs 51,000 each. Bookings can also be made via dealerships.
BYD India has rolled out special launch offers for the eMAX7. Various limited-time benefits worth Rs 51,000 (in other words, benefits worth the booking amount), and complimentary AC chargers (7 kW or 3 kW units will be available), can be availed on bookings made till October 08, 2024. The first deliveries are known to commence by March 25th, 2025.
Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles (EPV) Business at BYD India, said in a statement: “The BYD eMAX 7 represents our continued focus on electric vehicle innovation and meeting the needs of Indian families. It combines design, performance, and efficiency with sustainable technology, positioning it as a strong contender in the electric MPV market.”
eMAX 7 To Launch On October 8, 2024
BYD India will launch the eMAX7 on October 8, 2024, when its variant details and prices will be revealed. It is in fact, a generational update of the E6, that is already on sale here. But, the new vehicle will pack more tech, get an improved powertrain and will have more room inside. It is expected to be significantly better than its predecessor, in the flesh.
The eMAX 7 is built for long-distance travel, offering an extended driving range, better reliability, and more efficiency. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art safety systems, providing secure drives for both the driver and the passengers. The MPV will also host modern technologies and offer a premium cabin experience. It will also be noted for the ergonomic design of its cabin and the comfort offered.
Expected features include leatherette upholstery, a large 12.8-inch rotating infotainment screen, a large panoramic sunroof, premium-looking switchgear, soft-touch materials and trims, ADAS, etc. Unlike the E6 which is a five-seater, the EMAX7 is expected to offer both six and seven-seater layouts.
Overseas, the eMAX7 is available with two battery packs- a 55.4kWh unit with 420 km range and a 71.8kWh unit with 530 km range. The larger battery is already being used in the E6, and is thus most probable to make it to the new vehicle. However, BYD could also consider bringing in the smaller battery pack.
In many international markets, the EMAX7’s powertrain produces 163 hp with the smaller battery and 204 hp with the larger battery and has 310 Nm of torque. These could remain unchanged for the Indian spec as well.
Rivals and Expected Price
The BYD EMAX7 is expected to be more expensive than the E6. It will compete with the Toyota Innova Hycross upon launch. The E6 is currently priced at 29.15 lakh, ex-showroom. Thus it would make sense to expect the EMAX7 to have a price tag of around Rs 30 lakh-Rs 33 lakh around its shoulder. For reference, the Innova Hycross prices top out at Rs 30.98, ex-showroom.
BYD’s Global And India Presence
