The calendar year 2024 is coming to a close and we already have had carmakers announce price hikes on their portfolios, known to take effect on January 1, 2025. Most manufacturers cite rising commodity and operational costs as the reason behind these revisions.

So what brands are hiking the prices you ask? Well, from the more affordable side of things to the luxurious one, several players have come up with revisions. Maruti Suzuki has announced that the prices of its products will go up by up to 4%. This would however, vary between models and variants. Hyundai has announced hikes of Rs 25,000 across its portfolio. Nissan has declared a 2% price increase for the Magnite. There is, however, no upward revision in the X-Trail prices ( which as a matter of fact, is already overpriced)

The revisions in the luxury segment are more noteworthy. BMW has hiked prices across its portfolio by up to 3%. Its subsidiary Mini has announced an upward revision in prices, the quantum of which is unknown at the moment. Audi India has declared that the prices of its cars and SUVs will go up by 3% from January 1.

Mercedes Benz has announced its hike for the year-end itself. Prices will go up by up to 3 per cent. The GLC will see a 2 lakh hike while the Maybach S680 V12 will now cost 9 lakh more. However, vehicles manufactured and/or booked before the 31st of December, 2024 will not be subject to the price revision.

With these price revisions incoming, now could be the best time to buy a new car in India. Volkswagen’s December Discounts

Volkswagen is offering massive year-end benefits and discounts across its portfolio. Cash discounts, an exchange bonus or a scrappage bonus (any one of these), and a loyalty bonus can be availed on the Virtus, Taigun and Tiguan. The quantum varies with the model and variant chosen. The Taigun 1.0 comes with discounts and benefits of up to 2 lakh, while the 1.5L version gets up to Rs 50,000. An additional 50,000 can be saved on MY23 models and another 40,000 on two airbag variants.

Up to 1.5 lakh can be saved on the VW Virtus. The 1.0L variants come with up to 1.5 lakh off while the 1.5L variants get just a Rs 50,000 cash discount. Two-airbag variants offer an additional 40,000 in savings and MY23 cars cost Rs 50,000 less.

VW India’s flagship- the Tiguan is now available with total discounts of up to 4.90 lakh rupees. MY 23 models get a complementary 4-year service package worth over Rs 90,000. 50,000 rupees can be availed in a loyalty bonus and exchange bonus worth Rs 1.50 lakh or scrappage bonuses of up to Rs 20,000 can also be had. Cash discounts alone amount to 2 lakh.

Honda December Discounts

Honda Cars India has increased the discounts and benefits on the last-generation Amaze to Rs 96,000 in December. On the City, up to Rs 90,000 can be saved on the hybrid variants, while it is a handsome 1.14 lakh on the regular petrol variants. The carmaker recently launched the third-generation Amaze in India. This makes the second-generation car qualify for huge cuts and benefits. Up to 1.26 lakh can now be saved on it.

Tata Motors’ December Discounts

Tata Motors now offers up to 3.7 lakh savings on its SUV range. MY23 Harrier and Safari get discounts of up to 2.70 lakh. MY24 models offer a smaller Rs 45,000. The Nexon is offered in a series of powertrain options. You can avail benefits of Rs 2.85 lakh on the pre-facelift version, should you manage to source one…2023 facelift gets Rs 2.10 lakh off and the MY24 models do with 45000 rupees. The Punch gets a massive cut of Rs 1.55 lakh. However, no benefit can be availed on the base variant or Camo variants.

Up to 45,000 can be saved on the Tata Altroz petrol MT variants. The DCA variants come with total benefits of up to 30,000. Total savings on the diesel variants amount to 40000 rupees. The Altroz iCNG gets 15000 worth of benefits.

Maruti Discounts This December

Maruti Suzuki is offering discounts on the Arena range of cars and SUVs. Total benefits on the Swift have increased to 60,000. Even the CNG version offers benefits of 55,000 rupees. The Wagon R offers savings of up to 45,000 on the petrol and 40,000 on the CNG versions. The discounts and benefits on the Celerio now fall in the 40,000-45,000 rupees bracket. The Alto K10 offers a total benefit of 40,000. Up to 15,000 can be saved on the S-Presso and Brezza each.

Renault Discounts

Renault currently sells the Triber, Kiger and Kwid in India. Up to 75,000 can be saved on the Kiger while the benefits that can be had on the Triber and Kwid stand at 60,000 and 45,000 respectively. Additional benefits apply to the Kwid in Himachal pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Hyundai December Discounts

Hyundai is also offering attractive benefits and discounts during this December. The Venue gets a discount of over 75,000. The Exter gets up to 53,000. Discounts on the Grand i10 NIOS go up to 68,000 while the i20 is offered with savings of up to 65,000.
