We often come across incidents that raise concerns about the safety and security of citizens in this country. Several women from different parts of the country have shared the bad experiences they have faced during their commute. Here, we have one such incident that was caught on video. We see a man attempting to forcefully open the door of a car after spotting a woman sitting alone inside.
A girl was waiting near the Marathahalli bridge service road when a man approached her car. He noticed she was alone and tried to open all four doors but couldn’t because they were locked. The video was shared by Karnataka Portfolio on their YouTube channel. The video circulating online was recorded by the woman herself. It was reported from a spot near the Marathahalli Bridge service road. The car was parked on the side of the road when a man noticed it and walked towards it.
He appears to be drunk, and as he comes closer to the car, he realizes that a woman is sitting inside alone. Once he noticed that there was no one else in the car, he started pulling the door handle, attempting to open the door.
Thankfully, it was locked. He walked around the car, trying to open all the doors, and when he finally realized the woman was recording a video, he stood there for a few seconds before attempting to hit the window glass with his hand and break it.
The woman inside the car realized she was in a dangerous situation and decided to drive away. She shared the video online to raise awareness and warn women who commute alone to work or home every day. This occurred on a busy road, as we can see other vehicles passing through the same road and flyover.
Safety is a major concern, and everyone must take it seriously. After the video went viral, Bengaluru police commented under the video, saying that they had informed the concerned police officers to take necessary action. The face of the culprit is clearly visible in the video, and it seems the person was under the influence of alcohol or some other illegal substance.
Most people who commented under the video wanted the police to take action against the culprit, as it raises questions about individual safety in a city like Bengaluru. Some social media users wrote, “This means that we must be vigilant at all times while driving, walking, or taking public transportation. We live a sad, stressful life.”
Another user said, “Karnataka, especially Bangalore, is losing its sheen. It is becoming infamous for the wrong reasons: 1. Road rage incidents, 2. Unwarranted aggression by public transport drivers, 3. Divisive politics of language, 4. Costly living, 5. Daily traffic jams. New industries need to rethink.”
We have seen incidents where thieves attempt to block vehicles and rob them. It seems the drunk man probably had a similar idea and was planning to steal from the car. The woman did the right thing by recording the video and driving off when she realized things were getting worse. Always inform the local police about such incidents if you face similar problems. We hope, Bengaluru police soon finds the culprit in this case and necessary action is taken against him.
