Honda Cars India has reduced the price of its City e:HEV hybrid sedan by ₹95,000, bringing the new ex-showroom price down to ₹19.89 lakh. This makes the strong hybrid sedan significantly more accessible, and nearly matches its original launch price of ₹19.5 lakh from 2022.

Upcoming Delhi EV Policy Effect?

Well, it could be. We're saying this because of the fact that the Delhi EV policy is all set to announced zero road tax on hybrid cars priced under Rs. 20 lakh. So, it was important for the Honda City Hybrid to duck under this price to gain the Delhi government's road tax benefit. The Delhi NCR market remains a stronghold of the City sedan.

The City e:HEV continues to stand out as the only strong hybrid in the midsize sedan segment. With rising interest in hybrids and support from recent government initiatives, Honda’s move could help revive demand in a sedan segment currently dominated by SUVs.

Strong Hybrid Tech, Strong Appeal

The Honda City e:HEV is a strong hybrid powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine and two electric motors. This advanced i-MMD (Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive) setup delivers a combined power output of 126hp and 253Nm, along with an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 27.26 kmpl. It can even drive short distances using electric power alone, thanks to its 0.7kWh lithium-ion battery.

Power is sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT gearbox. This unique hybrid setup not only boosts efficiency but also offers a smoother and quieter driving experience, especially in city conditions.

Packed With Features

The City e:HEV is offered only in the top-spec ZX trim, which comes loaded with premium features. These include: LED headlights and DRLs, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, Electric sunroof, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Wireless charger, 8-speaker sound system, Honda Sensing ADAS suite with lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and collision mitigation braking, Six airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electric Parking Brake (EPB), Lane Watch camera and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

As for styling and design cues, The car also wears unique styling touches like a sportier rear diffuser, lip spoiler, and e:HEV badging to set it apart from its petrol-only versions. While it still sits at the top end of the segment in terms of price, the City e:HEV offers hybrid technology and features that no rival matches in this range.

Speaking about the price cut, Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing & Sales at Honda Cars India, mentioned that although the overall sedan market is currently slow, the brand is hopeful of better sales during the upcoming festive season as the monsoon progresses and market liquidity improves.

The City Hybrid’s unique position and this recent price drop could help Honda regain traction in the sedan market and appeal to buyers looking for an efficient alternative to fully electric or conventional petrol cars.

Amaze VX CVT Gets Cheaper Too

In a related move, Honda has also reduced the price of its Amaze VX CVT variant by ₹20,000. It will now sell for ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a more appealing option for buyers wanting a refined automatic in the sub-₹10 lakh segment. This price was previously offered in select cities as part of a promotion but is now applicable across India.

With the revised pricing and no direct competition in the hybrid sedan space, the Honda City e:HEV presents itself as a smart buy for those who want great fuel efficiency, advanced features, and future-ready technology without going fully electric.
