Honda Cars India has launched the Black editions of the Elevate SUV with prices starting at 15.51 lakh. Spy shots of the vehicle had previously surfaced and more recently, we also saw it reaching some dealerships. There was, however, no word from the manufacturer on the possible launch of the same yet. Now, Honda has also released the official TVC of the Black edition Elevate revealing more details.
Honda Elevate Black Edition And Signature Black Edition: What Are They?
To start with, the manufacturer has launched two distinct dark-themed iterations of the Elevate- the Black edition and Signature Black edition. The Signature Black edition has a price of 15.71 lakh, ex-showroom. These offer the choice of a manual and a CVT automatic gearboxes. The Apex edition that was launched last year, continues to be on sale in the country.
The Black Edition has an all-Black theme both on the exterior and on the inside. Both the Black and Signature Black remain more or less cosmetic packages and lack any mechanical changes.
The Black edition package adds a Crystal Black Pearl paint job to the SUV, and comes with black interiors and alloy wheels. There are multiple Silver accents on the lower doors, grille, and the roof rails. The Signature Black Edition, on the other hand, further ups the ante by replacing the Silver accents with sleek Black trims. The cabin here, comes with a 7-colour ambient lighting as well.
Features
Both the special editions retain the features from the standard SUV. These include six airbags, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, leatherette seats, a single-pane sunroof, and camera-based ADAS technology. Other features include automatic headlights and wipers, a semi-analog instrument cluster, and a 7.0-inch TFT display.
Honda Elevate Black Edition And Signature Black Edition: Specifications
Mechanically, these special editions remain unchanged from the standard car. Both the Black and Signature Black editions are powered by the same 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol (iVTEC) engine that is offered with both a 6-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission. The CVT automatic versions come at an additional cost of Rs 20,000. The automatic variants are priced at Rs 16.73 lakh and Rs 16.93 lakh, depending on the trim.
This engine is known for its torquey nature and refinement levels. The Elevate’s suspension setup also deserves praise for its ride comfort and road manners. It also offers good space and comfort for the rear seat occupants as well.
Key Rivals:
The Indian affinity towards dark (read Black) body colours is not new. Many manufacturers have launched special editions and dark editions to cash in on the love for Black vehicles. The MG Astor Blackstorm, Hyundai Creta Knight edition, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara black edition, are all examples. The Creta continues to be the segment leader in sales averaging a staggering 15,000 units (approximately).
The Elevate, hasn’t been a huge hit for the brand. It has, in fact, struggled to meet Honda’s expectations. The new Black and Signature Black editions aim to capture a larger share of the compact SUV pie.
Apex Edition
Priced from 12.86 Lakh, ex-showroom, the Elevate Apex edition is for those who prefer to have the vehicle in White. It gets multiple Piano Black inserts and premium trims at various areas of design. Even the upholstery is finished in White. The cabin here would seem more roomy and pleasant than the Black editions, due to this colourway.
