Hyundai has been working on an electric SUV for quite some time. Hyundai had made it clear that the South Korean brand was working on the electric version of their popular SUV, Creta. Over the last couple of weeks, Hyundai has been releasing teaser images and videos on social media. Hyundai has now released an official video that fully reveals the Hyundai Electric SUV.
The video has been shared by Hyundai India on their YouTube channel. In this video, we see the upcoming Hyundai Creta Electric SUV parked outside a house. The Hyundai Creta Electric’s charging port is located at the front, behind the logo. The design of the electric SUV is based on the current version of the Creta.
The LED DRLs with connecting LED DRLs can be seen, and there is a camera on the grille as well. The front grille has actually been redesigned, and it is now completely closed. On the lower part of the bumper, there are a couple of active air flaps for better aerodynamics. In the next shot, we see the fully digital instrument cluster of the SUV. It features an all-new UI with a blue finish.
We see a new steering wheel that is specific to the electric vehicle. It appears to be a two-spoke steering wheel. There are multiple drive modes available with the SUV. We see Eco, Normal, and Sport modes in the instrument cluster. A larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system is likely to remain the same as the regular Creta.
The exterior design of the SUV is the same as the regular Creta. The SUV seen in the video is finished in a shade of electric blue with a black roof. The alloy wheel design is from the regular Creta. It is a dual-tone wheel with an aerodynamic design to reduce drag. There are silver-colored skid plates at the front and rear.
As this is an electric SUV, the Creta Electric is extremely quick. The Creta Electric can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds. It is powered by a 51.4 kWh battery pack that has a claimed driving range of 473 km. This is the ARAI-certified range, and the actual driving range might vary.
The active air flaps open and close automatically to increase airflow and maintain the motor temperature. As seen in modern electric vehicles, the Creta Electric gets Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) functionality. Using this feature, people can power external devices using the energy stored in the car’s battery.
As this is a Hyundai SUV, it is not going to disappoint us in terms of features. While the interiors are not clearly visible in the video, it is expected to have dual-tone leatherette upholstery. The SUV will also get features like seat ventilation, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats, an air purifier, cruise control, and more.
The Hyundai Creta Electric will compete with the likes of the Mahindra BE 6 and Tata Curvv.ev in the segment. Hyundai is likely to price the upcoming Creta Electric competitively, and the manufacturer is expected to launch it in January. We’ll be driving the Creta Electric later this month.
