The first official teaser for the upcoming electric SUV has been shared on Instagram by Hyundai India on their page. In the image, we can note that instead of showing a specific design cue or a feature that will be offered in the Creta Electric, the company has shown a sleek and modern-looking wall-mounted charger for its new electric Creta SUV.
At the moment, Hyundai has not shared the exact details of this wall-mounted charger. Most likely, the company will offer this charger with a power output of around 7.4-11 kW. This charger could help the buyers of the Hyundai Creta Electric charge the vehicle conveniently at home.
Hyundai Creta Electric
Now, coming to the details of the Hyundai Creta Electric: This new SUV, as mentioned, is the first-ever affordable electric SUV from the brand. Prior to this, the company offered the Kona Electric SUV in the Indian automotive market. However, it mainly catered to premium electric SUV buyers. The Creta Electric, on the other hand, will be targeted at mass-market buyers.
Its overall design will be based on the current-generation Creta, which was facelifted earlier this year. However, to set apart the electric version of this immensely popular mid-size SUV, Hyundai will offer the Creta Electric with a number of design highlights like a closed-off grille, new bumpers, and a few other EV-specific design cues.
As for the interior, like the current model, the new Creta will also get a twin-connected screen layout. The one on the left will be the infotainment screen, while the other will be the digital instrument gauge cluster. It will also get a rotary gear knob and a few other additions. In terms of features, the Creta Electric, like the ICE model, will come loaded with features.
These will include a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with ventilation, a wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS Level 2. Its suite of ADAS will include a number of features, including emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and others.
Hyundai Creta Electric: Powertrain
Coming to the powertrain side of things, the Hyundai Creta Electric is expected to be launched with a 45 kWh battery pack. It is expected to offer a real-world driving range of 400-450 km. As for the electric motor, it will most likely get a front axle-mounted motor that will generate 138 bhp of power and 255 Nm of torque.
Pricing-wise, Hyundai could launch this electric SUV with a starting price of Rs 20 lakh. Once launched, it will compete with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, which will also be launched during the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo, set to commence on January 17th. It will also take on the soon-to-be-launched Mahindra BE 6 and Tata Harrier EV.
