Hyundai Motor India is preparing to launch the highly anticipated Creta Electric SUV at the Bharat Mobility Expo next week. Ahead of its market debut, the carmaker has been actively releasing teasers of the Creta EV. The manufacturer has now let out a new teaser video that showcases the various highlights of the SUV and pumps up the hype around it.
The video starts by showing the exterior design of the Creta EV. It resembles the ICE counterpart to a great extent. The body lines, silhouette, roofline and lighting are all borrowed from the regular Creta. The most distinguishing factor here is the new colourway- Ocean Blue Matte. It looks brilliant on the vehicle and gives it a likeable ‘EV appeal’. This new colour is exclusive to the electric version (at least for now).
The EV gets all-LED lighting like the standard car. The front and rear bumpers have been thoroughly revised, and the headlamp placement looks fresh. Unlike the petrol/diesel versions, the EV gets a closed-off grille and a face that looks significantly better. The vehicle shown in the teaser has a dual-tone paint scheme, with blacked-out upper half. The A, B, and C pillars and the roof are all finished in Black.
There is a Silver faux skid plate at the rear, that tends to extend and run along the length of the vehicle. A similar unit is seen on the front bumper as well. The SUV also comes with Active Air Flaps for better balance between aero and battery cooling. The teaser shows the wheels to be finished in Black. These, are in fact, aerodynamic EV wheels. The tailgate has a badge that reads ‘Electric’.
The video further shows the interior of the electric SUV. The seats get premium White upholstery with a Green line at the centre and the dashboard, steering wheel, centre console, and door pads are finished in Black. There are multiple Gloss Black trims inside. The gear selector ( ‘drive selector’ ) now sits on a stalk situated near the steering wheel.
The steering wheel now has a completely new design. It doesn’t get the Hyundai logo. Instead, a new logo design comprising a few dots can be found. It has a three-spoke design and looks premium.
The centre console has a floating design and comes with two cupholders and a slew of buttons. It gets the ‘Drive Mode Selector’ rotary switch. Other buttons include those of the Electric Parking Brake (EPB), Auto Hold and the Camera ( could be 360 cam). There could also be buttons for controlling regeneration as well.
The features confirmed on the Creta Electric are Level 2 ADAS, wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, dual large displays, dual-zone climate control, eight-way powered front seats, memory function for the driver seat, boss mode function, and eco-friendly seats.
The Creta Electric has been crafted specifically for India, and Hyundai plans to ‘electrify India’ with the same. The manufacturer will likely have aggressive sales targets with the EV. The teaser is quite vocal about the same. It shows the EV running past a number of places like the Gateway of India, the Taj Mahal and the Mumbai Worli sea link, turning them into Blue. The Blue here represents the Creta Electric- possibly meaning the electric SUV to capture these markets soon.
