The Creta EV is one of the most anticipated launches from Hyundai in India. Based on the highly popular Creta nameplate, the EV will be Hyundai’s first mass-market electric car for the Indian market. It will make its debut at the Expo. The EV is expected to borrow a lot of its styling cues from the regular Creta. It will, however, come with a new EV-spec grille, new bumpers and fresh-looking aero-wheels.

Apparently, to keep costs under check, the EV will share a lot of its interior bits and components with the petrol/diesel models. It will, however, have Hyundai’s new age EV-spec steering wheel design and revised dashboard and centre console as well.

The electric Creta will borrow its powertrain from the previous generation Kona EV. Though unconfirmed as we speak, it is likely to come with a 48 kWh battery pack and a 134 Bhp electric motor that can produce a maximum torque of 255 Nm. With a rumoured 0-100 kph time of  8-8.5 seconds, this could be the fastest Creta ever.

Hyundai reportedly has plans to sell 2000 units of the Creta EV each month, roughly translating to less than 20% of the total volumes. Upon launch, the Creta EV will compete with the likes of Nexon.EV, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv.EV and Maruti eVitara or Toyota Urban Electric SUVs.

Hyundai Venue EV
