Hyundai is India’s second-largest car manufacturer, and it offers a variety of models in the Indian market. One of the popular models in the Hyundai lineup is the Verna. The current generation Verna was launched last year, and it has been doing well since then. Hyundai offers the Verna with a 1.5-liter NA and a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine. We recently came across a post by a Hyundai Verna turbo petrol owner who wrote about overheating issues in his vehicle. When he reported the issue to a service center, the service head asked the customer to drive gently.

The post was shared by the Hyundai Verna turbo petrol customer, Mukul, on Team-Bhp. The customer has been using the turbo petrol DCT version of the Hyundai Verna and has been facing an issue for some time. Whenever he drives the sedan in a spirited manner, the instrument cluster shows that the vehicle is overheating. This notification stays for 10-15 seconds, and after this, the temperature drops to normal.

The customer mentions that this was an issue reported by some other Verna owners in this group. A user who goes by the name blackbandit had shared a similar experience. Screenshots of the same are attached to this story. In this case, the customer was worried when he got this notification on the screen and decided to take the car to the dealership.

Blackbandit’s issue

When he took the car for inspection at Berkley Hyundai Panchkula, he was surprised. The vehicle was inspected by the staff, and they found no issues. The dealership, in fact, told the customer that it was his fault and that the notification comes up on the screen because he was using 100 percent of the throttle.

The customer even got an official mail from the Hyundai dealership’s service head confirming the same. The official mail said that they thoroughly inspected the vehicle at the workshop and found no abnormalities. However, during the inspection, they observed that the vehicle was being driven in a very abnormal driving pattern.

The throttle was being pressed from 0-100 percent frequently and suddenly, causing the RPM to rise over 5,000. This sudden throttle usage is the reason why the overheating indication appears on the cluster.

Blackbandit, who reported a similar issue, mentioned that when he took the car to the service center, they found a defect in the hose connecting to the coolant reservoir. They replaced the same part under warranty, and since then, he has not faced the same issue.

People who came across this post are actually furious with the response and are seen mocking the dealership staff and the brand under the post. Most of them want Hyundai to get to the root cause of the issue and resolve it.

The 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine with a DCT gearbox is being marketed as a version for customers who like spirited driving. However, the overheating issue puts a huge question mark on the reliability of the vehicle. Hyundai should, in fact, check if this is an issue limited to a few cars or if it has something to do with the cars that rolled out from the factory during a particular time or batch.
