MG Windsor Pro (53 kWh) Launched In India At 17.49 Lakh

Putting an end to anticipations, JSW MG Motor India has launched the 53 kWh version of the Windsor EV in India, naming it the Windsor Pro. The outgoing Windsor EV, despite its 38 kWh battery pack, has been a tremendous sales success. It has made MG's EV sales scale new heights in a short span of time. The Pro version is only expected to make the deal sweeter and drive more numbers.
The Windsor EV Pro slots in as the top-spec variant in the Windsor lineup. The price (of the range) starts at Rs 13.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The top-spec Pro variant costs Rs 17.49 lakh, ex-showroom. The mid variant has an ex-showroom price of Rs 15.99 lakh. The Pro version, thus commands a price premium of just around 1.5 lakh rupees over the regular Windsor. It should also be noted that the above mentioned price is introductory and would go up in the future.
The carmaker offers a Battery as a Service (BaaS) model of ownership on the regular Windsor. This allows you to take home the EV by paying 9.9 lakh rupees as the vehicle price. You will, however, have to pay Rs 3.9 per kilometer as battery rent. On the Windsor Pro, the BaaS program will lower the price to 12.49 lakh (plus Rs 4.5/km in battery rent)
Bookings will start on May 8, 2025, and the introductory price will only stand valid for the first 8000 reservations.
From the outside, the Windsor EV Pro looks almost the same as the current model. The body shape, lighting, and design remain familiar. However, you’ll notice several ‘PRO’ badges around the vehicle, setting it apart from the regular variant.
The colour palette has been updated with three new shades- Aurora Silver, Glaze Red and Celadon Blue. These colours look very appealing, in person
Step inside the cabin, and you’ll notice the changes. MG has added faux wood trims across the dashboard and central console, giving it a more upscale look. The cabin also gets elegant copper-colored accents at various places.
The basic dashboard layout remains the same, but the material quality and detailing are much more refined in the Pro version. Interestingly, the upholstery now comes finished in a more pleasant Beige shade. The regular Windsor comes with Black interiors.
The Windsor EV Pro is loaded with features and comes with the likes of a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Wireless charging pads and more. MG even offers a slew of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features on the new Windsor. As seen in previous teasers, the Windsor Pro also comes with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging.
Other features include a 9-speaker Infinity sound system, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a panoramic sunroof. For extra comfort, the seats can recline up to 135 degrees, which MG calls ‘Aero Lounge’ seating.
The biggest upgrade lies under the floor. While the standard Windsor EV uses a 38 kWh battery with a claimed range of 331 km, the Pro version comes with a larger 52.9 kWh prismatic cell unit, which is claimed to offer range figures of up to 449 km on a single charge.
This extra range makes a big difference, especially for long-distance drives or highway use, and puts the Windsor Pro ahead of many of its rivals in the affordable EV space.
With its longer range, added tech, and more premium features, the MG Windsor EV Pro has positioned itself as a strong contender in the EV space. It targets customers who want more range and luxury without moving to a much higher price bracket.
