MVD Looking For Dodge Challenger That Spit Fire From Modified Exhaust [Video]

Importing cars to India via Carnet has become a common sight, and many people have brought cars to India through this route from different parts of the world. The main reason why many are opting for this is because it is much cheaper than actually importing a car and registering it here in India.
One such Dodge Challenger muscle car that was brought from Dubai to Kerala has been the topic of discussion in the news over the last couple of days. The MVD is currently looking for the vehicle and is trying to trace the owner.
The video has been shared by Manorama News on their website. Many other news channels have also reported the same. The reason why the MVD is currently looking for the Dodge Challenger is that there are videos of the car passing through a busy city road in Kochi with loud exhausts.
The loud aftermarket exhaust is said to have created a ruckus on the road, and it looks like someone posted the video of the same car on the internet. In the video that is now circulating online, we can also see a Dodge Charger right next to the Challenger.
The stunt was performed on the road in front of Lulu Mall in Kochi. The person in the Dodge Charger is seen holding the camera outside the vehicle.
This could be an indication that driving the car with a loud exhaust on a busy road was actually planned and was done for the sake of creating viral content on social media. The video reports claim that loud sounds from the exhaust were followed by fire as well. We assume that the report is referring to pops and bangs.
The occasional fire and loud sound from the exhaust are all part of such modifications. Kerala MVD also came across the video, and they are now trying to trace the owner of the vehicle. The car seen in the video came with Dubai registration. Tracking the owner is not likely to be a difficult task, as the vehicle would have been registered with the local RTO when it arrived.
The reason the MVD is after the Dodge Challenger is due to the loud exhaust. Aftermarket exhausts or any kind of modifications are illegal in India. However, many people import modified cars via Carnet that are legal in other countries.
The Dodge Challenger is an American muscle car that comes with a sporty exhaust note. However, using these aftermarket exhausts and disturbing other road users cannot be accepted. Even if the car is imported to India, it still has to comply with the rules.
The chances of the car receiving a heavy fine for this irresponsible behaviour are quite high. At the time of writing this story, there is no update on whether the officers were able to trace the owner or not. Most exotic cars that come to India via Carnet have some sort of modifications, and we have featured many of these cars on our website too. However, it becomes a problem when the owners of these cars try to create disturbances on the road for other users.
