Kia Syros Joins The 5 Star Club: Passes BNCAP Crash Test With Flying Colours

Kia launched their all-new sub-4 meter SUV, Syros, in the market earlier this year. It quickly gained attention from buyers because of the unique styling and features. Now, there is one more reason to buy the Kia Syros. Kia’s latest SUV secured a 5-star rating for Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection under the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP). It is Kia’s first product in the Indian market to score a 5-star rating at the Bharat NCAP.
Mr. Gwanggu Lee, MD and CEO of Kia India, said: "At Kia India, safety is not just a feature—it is a philosophy embedded in our DNA. Kia Syros receives the prestigious 5-star BNCAP safety rating, which is a testament to our unwavering commitment to ensuring the highest standards of safety for our customers. This achievement reflects our relentless pursuit of making Kia one of the safest and most trusted mobility brands in India. We are not only enhancing driver and passenger safety but also setting new benchmarks in the segment. We remain focused on bringing globally proven safety technologies and innovations, such as ADAS Level 2, to the Indian market, making them accessible to a wider range of customers. Our dedication to safety will continue to drive us as we work to create safer, smarter, and more sustainable vehicles for the future."
Bharat NCAP has released an official video of the crash test. In this test, the SUV went through the Front Offset Deformable Barrier Test at 64 kmph, the Side Impact Test at 50 kmph, and the Pole Side Impact Test at 29 kmph.
In all these tests, the SUV performed pretty well. The Kia Syros managed to keep the occupants in the car safe. The pillars remained intact, and the structure absorbed the impact well. On impact, the airbags deployed and ensured the safety of the occupants. The front, side, and curtain airbags all worked on time.
Kia Syros displayed high crash protection standards in the tests, demonstrating its exceptional ability to safeguard occupants in a variety of impact scenarios. With its advanced safety technologies and top-tier crash test performance, the Kia Syros sets a new benchmark for SUV safety, providing peace of mind for drivers and passengers alike.
Kia Syros scored an impressive 30.21 out of 32.00 points in Adult Occupant Protection and 44.42 out of 49.00 in Child Occupant Protection. This highlights the brand's commitment to rigorous crash-test standards at globally recognized facilities, reinforcing Syros' position as one of the safest SUVs in its segment.
The Syros comes with 16 autonomous safety technologies. The vehicle integrates Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS Level 2) and a robust 20-standard active and passive safety pack, ensuring maximum protection for occupants.
Kia Syros is available with two engine options: a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The petrol engine generates 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque.
This engine is available with manual and DCT gearbox options. The diesel engine generates 115 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. It comes with manual and automatic transmission options. Prices for the Kia Syros start at Rs 9 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 17.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
