Kia Syros Features Explained: How The Compact SUV Is A Big Step Up From The Sonet

The South Korean automotive giant Kia India has unveiled the new Syros in India. This new model sits in the sub-compact SUV segment and above its sibling Sonet in India. Now, many people might not be aware, but this new SUV boasts a ton of new features that are missing on the Sonet and also in a number of its rivals. So, we thought we should explain all the features offered in the new Kia Syros. Without any delay, here we go.

Unique LED headlights

Starting off at the front, the new Syros comes equipped with a set of unique headlights. Its massive housing comes equipped with three-pod LED headlights that have been vertically stacked. It also gets a set of vertically positioned LED DRLs. Overall, these lights add to the boxy appearance of the Syros.

Flush-type door handles

Kia, in order to keep the body of the Syros smooth, has avoided adding traditional pull-type door handles. Instead, the company is offering the Syros with flush-type door handles. We have seen these types of door handles on the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Curvv coupe SUV, along with other expensive luxury cars. The Kia Sonet gets regular, pull-type door handles.

Distinct alloy wheels

Another unique element of the Kia Syros is its 17-inch alloy wheels. Unlike standard diamond-cut alloy wheels, which have become very common in India, the Kia Syros comes with a set of geometric alloy wheels finished in black and silver. These alloys give this SUV a very futuristic look.

Taller than Sonet

The Kia Syros is much taller at 1,680mm height than its sibling the Sonet which measures 1,642mm. This taller height translates into better headroom inside the car. Most sub-compact SUVs in its segment offer a very small height which makes it cumbersome but the Syros excels in this department.

All four disc brakes

The Kia Syros also comes equipped with all-four disc brakes. The sonet on the other hand only comes with front two disc brakes.

Trinity panoramic display

Another major highlight of the Kia Syros is its 30-inch Trinity panoramic display panel. So far, we have seen many connected screen cars in India, including the Kia Sonet and Kia Seltos. However, no other affordable car offers such an expansive screen. There is a digital instrument gauge cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system, which are both connected and look seamless.

Panoramic sunroof

The Kia Syros also comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof. This particular luxury feature has become very popular in India, and automakers are now offering models with this feature. It gets a double-pane panoramic sunroof, which also includes a sunblind. The Sonet is available with a single pane sunroof.

Electric parking brake

Adding a modern touch, Kia has ditched the traditional parking brake for an electronic parking brake. Along with it the car also gets Auto hold and traction control buttons as well.

2nd-Row ventilation

Most Indian cars have ventilated seats for the driver and the passenger. However, the Kia Syros is the only SUV in its segment to offer seat ventilation on the rear seats as well. Along with this, the rear seats can be adjusted for legroom, and they also feature a reclining function.

8-speaker Harman Kardon system

The Kia Syros also gets an 8-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, which offers a premium experience. Most cars in its segment do not get a high-end audio system like this. The Sonet gets a Bose 9 speaker audio system, which could prove to be better than the Harman Kardon system though.

Unique gear knob and charging ports

Kia is also offering the Syros with USB type-c charging ports and a wireless charger. Another unique touch is the addition of a distinct looking gear knob on the centre console. Just beside it, there is also the start stop button as well.

ADAS Level 2

Kia is keeping safety at the forefront with the Syros, and for this reason, it gets ADAS Level 2. Its suite of ADAS features includes front collision warning, front collision avoidance system, lane keep assist, and many others. The Sonet gets Level-1 ADAS.

360-degree camera and parking sensors

To help drivers easily maneuver the Syros, Kia is offering it with a 360-degree camera and front and rear parking sensors.

Kia Connect 2.0

As the Syros is a very futuristic model, it gets Kia’s latest Kia Connect 2.0. With this, it features over-the-air updates, Kia remote diagnostics, wake-up command, and multilingual VR commands. Additionally, it also features call center-assisted navigation.
