The South Korean automotive giant, Kia India, has released new teaser images of its upcoming SUV, Syros. These images give us a glimpse of this unique-looking SUV, which will be launched early next year. The new Kia Syros is part of Kia’s 2.0 plan, which it announced back in July 2023. Under this plan, the company aims to achieve a 10 percent market share in India. The Kia Syros has also been spotted testing on Indian roads on multiple occasions.
Kia Syros Teaser
The first teaser image that has been released gives us an insight into the side profile of this upcoming SUV. We can note that the upcoming Syros will boast a boxy shape. At first glance, it resembles an MPV as the front section of the vehicle is separated from the middle and rear sections by a thick B-pillar.
Additionally, to give a floating roof appearance, the company has added a black design element on the C-pillar and the rear quarter panel. The same image also gives us a glimpse of the flush type door handles, vertical LED DRLs at the front and similarly styled LED taillights in the rear.
The second image released by Kia gives us a look at the rear three-quarters of this upcoming SUV. We can observe that it gets L-shaped LED taillights, which are not connected like those of other Kia SUVs. Also, there is a fuel lid on the rear left quarter panel. The new Kia SUV will also get roof rails.
Kia Syros: Details
The Kia Syros, as mentioned, will be the newest SUV in the lineup, which will slot in between the Sonet sub-compact SUV and Seltos mid-size SUV. Over the last few months, we have seen numerous test mules of this SUV being tested on various Indian roads. This suggests that the launch is very likely to take place early next year.
So far, the test mules of this SUV have been spotted wearing two different sets of wheels. A few have been seen with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, while others have been seen with 17-inch 6-spoke triangular alloy wheels. Also, a few images showing the interior of this SUV have been shared.
It has been noted that the Syros will come equipped with two 10.25-inch connected screens. Like the Seltos, the left screen will be for infotainment, while the other will be for the digital instrument gauge cluster.
Other notable features that will be offered with the upcoming Syros include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, climate control, selectable drive modes, a powered front seat, and high-quality Bose audio. ADAS, six airbags, and a 360-degree camera are also expected to be offered.
Kia Syros: Powertrain Options
Coming to the powertrain options that the Kia Syros will offer, the company is planning to provide petrol, diesel, as well as electric powertrains with this SUV. Initially, the company will offer the model with three engine options, including a 1.2 naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0 turbocharged petrol, and a 1.5 diesel.
However, a few months after the launch of the ICE models, it will also offer a fully electric version. Presently, the details of the electric powertrain of this SUV have not been revealed, but it is expected to offer a range of 350 km, with real-world range varying between 270 km and 300 km.
