Mahindra BE 6 And XEV 9e Electric SUVs: Test Drives Commence Ahead Of Official Launch, Bookings

Mahindra XEV 9E

Mahindra has begun offering test drives of the BE 6 and XEV 9E electric coupe SUVs, which were first revealed at the Unlimit India event. This event was specifically created by the automaker to showcase its first “Born Electric” range of electric vehicles (EVs). Mahindra’s recently launched electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9E, have officially started arriving at dealerships, and it appears that test drives for these new EVs have commenced ahead of their official launch next month.

Several videos and images from different parts of the country show the newly launched Mahindra electric SUVs at dealerships. Official bookings for these electric SUVs from Mahindra will begin in January 2025, with deliveries expected to start approximately a month later. However, it seems Mahindra is giving customers an opportunity to experience these electric SUVs before they can place their bookings.

Mahindra BE 6

Initially, the BE 6 was launched as the BE 6E. However, Indigo Airlines raised an issue with the name, which led Mahindra to remove the letter “E” from its branding. The BE 6 is the smaller of the two SUVs and was launched at an attractive price of ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It is important to note that this price applies only to the entry-level version.

Mahindra will reveal variant-wise pricing during the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. This electric SUV is packed with features and is available with two battery pack options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The smaller battery pack offers a claimed driving range of 535 km, while the larger one provides up to 682 km.

The BE 6 features a distinctive exterior design, closely resembling the concept vehicle Mahindra showcased earlier. The design is one of the key reasons why the car is expected to attract customers. Highlights include C-shaped LED DRLs, 20-inch aerodynamic wheels, a coupe-like silhouette, and other design elements that contribute to the vehicle’s premium appeal.

The interior of the BE 6 looks equally luxurious. It features an illuminated BE logo on the steering wheel, twin floating screens on the dashboard, sleek AC vents, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, crash-resistant battery technology, seven airbags, and more. Additionally, the SUV boasts a unique infinity glass roof with programmable LED ambient lighting that offers 16 million color options. Similar ambient lighting is also present on the dashboard.

Mahindra XEV 9E

The XEV 9E is Mahindra’s most expensive electric SUV in India. Its design appears to be slightly inspired by the XUV700, although it is an entirely new SUV built from the ground up. The front fascia features drop-down LED DRLs with a connecting LED bar.

The XEV 9E also sports a coupe-SUV design and includes premium features such as three large 12.30-inch screens on the dashboard, which Mahindra calls the “Cinemascope Cockpit.” Additionally, Mahindra provides two screens for rear-seat passengers to ensure they don’t miss out on entertainment.

Other features include VisionX Augmented Reality HUD, MAIA (Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor, 24 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of internal storage. The SUV also comes with seven airbags, Level 2+ ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and more. Similar to the BE 6, the XEV 9E is available with two battery pack options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh.
