Velusamy first starts by mentioning that the new INGLO electric platform, which comprises the new battery packs, uses blade cell technology. He highlights that this new technology is a lot better than the existing LPF battery technology. The Mahindra official explains that these long cells with a single high-voltage pathway offer much more efficient space utilization.

He adds that they eliminate the traditional module structures and increase the usable cell space from 66% to 77%. Apart from this, the blade cell technology also offers a 29% boost in energy density. As for the range, both the 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs offer a real-world range of 500+ km. He highlights that these battery packs have been tested across 21 Indian states.

Charging Capabilities

Moving on in the video, Velusamy mentions that due to the use of innovative cooling systems and intelligent thermal management, these battery packs support 1.5–2C charging rates, which allows them to be charged from 20–80% in just 20 minutes using a 175 kW DC fast charger. Also, using the 11 kW wall charger offered by Mahindra, the batteries can be charged from 5–80% in 8 hours, which is ideal for overnight charging at home.

He adds that the company has tested the compatibility of these batteries across 19 states, over 50 charge point operators, and 1,000 charge points. The Mahindra official also mentions that even after these tests, the batteries maintained their condition.

Safety and Durability

Following these, Velusamy highlights that these battery packs have gone through various rigorous tests. Prior to this, he highlighted that the new INGLO battery packs use lightweight aluminum extrusion and cold metal transfer welding, foam-in-place gaskets to provide IP67 compliance, and a reinforced bottom cover for double impact resistance and protection.

He also mentions that these new battery packs have undergone more than 500 rigorous tests across labs in Europe, China, and India. These battery packs have withstood fire resistance tests, shock and nail penetration tests, a 12-meter drop test, and they have also been run over by a 25-ton truck.

Velusamy concludes the video by mentioning that these battery packs have been tested over 5.5 lakh km in extreme environments. These included deserts, coastal humidity, and high altitudes. He added that these battery packs have been designed to provide extremely high reliability and performance. Currently, the battery packs in the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9E are the most advanced batteries in the affordable electric car segment.
