Earlier, the third spot on the top-selling car brands list was occupied by Tata Motors. However, despite the company launching the new Curvv EV and Curvv ICE Coupe SUVs, it has seen a dip in its sales.

The company in September only sold 42,031 units. In the same period last year, it sold a total of 44,809 units. This dip represents an 8.36 percent fall in sales. Its exports have also reduced to 250 units this year from 508 units last year.

Additionally, the EV arm of Tata Motors has also seen a massive decline of 22 percent. Tata’s EV sales in September were 4,680 units, which is much less than the 6,050 units it managed to achieve last year in the same month.

The EV sales slowdown is not exclusive to Tata Motors. Overall, the sales of electric cars are going down because the government has withdrawn the FAME subsidies, which were given to electric cars. The government has announced that only electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, electric trucks, and buses will be given subsidies.

The biggest highlight from the September sales is that the margin between Mahindra and Hyundai’s sales is just 39 cars. The South Korean carmaker sold a total of 51,101 units in the Indian domestic market.

This means that Mahindra, in the upcoming months, could even take over Hyundai’s second spot on the list. The total Hyundai car sales in the month of September stood at 64,201 units (13,100 exports and 51,101 domestic).

Mahindra launched the Thar Roxx on August 15th, and the waiting period on this SUV has already reached 3 months.

The XUV 3OO, which is the brand’s sub-compact SUV, is also posting decent sales. Additionally, an already popular model like the Bolero is also consistently selling in great numbers.
