As per the reports, Mahindra has filed a Class 12 patent for the name XEV 7E. This new name will be adorned on the electric version of the already popular Mahindra XUV700. Over the last few years, we have seen numerous test mules of this vehicle being tested on Indian roads. At the time of the unveiling of the concept, this vehicle was named the XUV.e8.

Mahindra XEV 7E: Details

XEV is the sub-brand launched by Mahindra to introduce its electric SUVs. Along with it, the company has also launched another sub-brand, BE. The XEV 7E will sit below the recently unveiled XEV 9E and will boast a much more familiar full-size SUV silhouette, unlike the XEV 9E’s sloping coupe-like roofline.

The Mahindra XEV 7E, in terms of design, will look almost exactly the same as the XEV 9E at the front. It will also come equipped with the same connected LED DRL that spans from one end of the fascia to the other. What will be slightly different is the front lower portion, which will feature a separated front splitter/skid plate.

Also, the new Mahindra Infinity logo will sit on the blanked-off grille, and it will be illuminated, as it is in the XEV 9E. Moving on to the side profile, it can be noted that to create a clear distinction between the two models, the XEV 7E will get a different set of alloy wheels. It boasts five spokes finished in black with a silver lip.

Apart from this, the overall side profile looks exactly like the XUV 700. As for the rear-end design, Mahindra has played it safe by keeping the design the same as the ICE model. The only noticeable change in the rear is the addition of a gloss black element, which connects the rear LED taillights, which again are the exact same as the XUV 700.

Mahindra XEV 7E: Interior Design

The leaked pictures of the interior of the Mahindra XEV 7E reveal that it is the exact same as the XEV 9E. Most likely, this sharing of the dashboard layout has been done to keep development costs low. We can note that the XEV 7E will also get the unique and ginormous triple-screen layout.

There will be three screens: one in front of the driver, which will be the digital instrument gauge cluster; one in the middle, which will be the touchscreen infotainment system; and lastly, the third screen in front of the passenger. The AC vents will be the same as the XEV 9E, and so will the controls for the AC.

The XEV 7E will also get the same two-spoke steering wheel with the new Mahindra Infinity logo, which will be illuminated. Also, the gear selector will be the newly introduced leather-wrapped one with the electric handbrake button on the side. There will also be a rotary knob for drive mode selection.

It will also get all-wheel-drive capabilities and a much better 0-100 kmph acceleration time. There will also be dedicated off-road modes, including snow, mud, and others. Most likely, the XEV 7E will be priced higher than the XEV 9E due to this powertrain upgrade.
