Maruti Suzuki’s First Electric SUV Set for 2025 Launch, here are the expected color options
Maruti poised to take its first big step into the Indian electric vehicle market with its first fully electric SUV, the Suzuki eVitara. Slated for a grand debut in January 2025, this model is a huge step for Maruti, which has been a bit slow in coming to the EV market, instead sticking to CNG and strong hybrid vehicles till now.
Here, we bring you all the color options available for the global Suzuki eVitara. Not all of them may make to India, however. Also, market research prior to launch can also influence Maruti’s decision-making on which of the color schemes would be given to the Indian public.
One thing we notice is that none of the colors here seem to be what we think of as vibrant or dramatic. Instead, they are all into the classy, elegant end of the spectrum. This may indicate that Suzuki (and Maruti) considers this a somewhat upmarket car. However, not all manufacturers think so – we only have to look at the Mahindra Be 6 (formerly BE 6e) that even cars costing above Rs 20 lakh can have vibrant colors.
Color Options for Maruti eVitara
There are a total of eleven colors on offer for the global eVitara. They are 1) Land Breeze Green Pearl Metallic × Bluish Black Pearl 2) Opulent Red Pearl Metallic × Bluish Black Pearl 3) Arctic White Pearl × Bluish Black Pearl 4) Splendid Silver Pearl Metallic × Bluish Black Pearl 5) Grandeur Grey Pearl Metallic × Bluish Black Pearl 6) Land Breeze Green Pearl Metalic 7) Celestial Blue Pearl Metallic 8) Arctic White Pearl 9) Splendid Silver Pearl Metallic 10) Grandeur Grey Pearl Metallic and 11) Bluish Black Pearl
You can see that there are six single color options – Grandeur Grey Pearl Metallic × Bluish Black Pearl, Land Breeze Green Pearl Metalic, Celestial Blue Pearl Metallic, Arctic White Pearl, Splendid Silver Pearl Metallic, Grandeur Grey Pearl Metallic and Bluish Black Pearl. The remaining 5 are dual-color paint schemes.

EVitara – Muscular Design and Dimensions
The Suzuki e Vitara stays close to its concept version, the eVX, showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. We can clearly identify it as a Suzuki design. Key design features include a closed-off front grille, generous dark cladding around the base for a rugged look, tri-slash LED DRLs at the front and rear for modern styling, rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar. Alloy wheel options range from 18 inches on lower trims to 19 inches on premium variants.
Dimensions
This is not a sub-4- metre SUV – that anyway does not matter to electric vehicles, no tax benefit in staying below 4 metres for EVs which ar eanyway taxed liberally. The specs of the global eVitara are:
Length: 4,275 mm
Width: 1,800 mm
Height: 1,635 mm
Wheelbase: 2,700 mm
Ground Clearance: 180 mm
These may undergo minor changes when the SUV makes it into showrooms in India.
Powertrain and Performance Options
Maruti Suzuki is introducing the e Vitara with versatile powertrain options to cater to varying consumer needs. There are 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery options.
49 KWh battery pack
Power: 142 bhp
Torque: 189 Nm
61 kWh Battery:
Available in single motor (FWD) and dual motor (AWD) configurations.
Single Motor: 172 bhp, 189 Nm
Dual Motor (AWD): 181 bhp, 300 Nm
All AWD variants will incorporate Suzuki’s proprietary ALLGRIP-e 4WD system, promising superior handling and off-road capability.
New HEARTTECT-e Platform
The e Vitara is built on the new HEARTECT-e platform, which is specifically designed for battery electric vehicles. This platform emphasizes safety and efficiency while housing innovative components. It is a lightweight structure with integrated high-voltage protection, eAxles that combine the motor and inverter for compact performance and uses LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) ‘blade’ cells sourced from BYD, enhancing battery longevity and safety.
Feature Highlights
While a complete feature list is yet to be disclosed, the e Vitara is expected to offer a rich set of amenities for comfort, convenience, and safety. The features that we think are definitely coming are:
Digital instrument cluster for modern aesthetics.
Automatic climate control.
360-degree camera for enhanced visibility.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Ventilated front seats for added comfort.
Electronic parking brake with auto-hold functionality.
Maruti eVitara Launch Timeline and Pricing
Maruti Suzuki plans to unveil the e Vitara at the Bharat Mobility Show in New Delhi in January 2025, followed by its market launch in March 2025. A European release is expected around June 2025. Although the original launch was slated for October 2024, it was delayed due to software development challenges.
Maruti eVitara Pricing Expectations
This is the confusing part. Originally, we had assumed the following:
49 kWh Base Variant (2WD): Around Rs. 20 lakh.
61 kWh Premium Variant (AWD): Up to Rs. 30 lakh.
But this pricing may have been upended by the launch of the Mahindra Be 6 (formerly BE 6e). The BE 6 comes at a price just below Rs 20 lakhs for the smaller battery pack, which itself offers more capacity than the lower pack of the eVitara. Not just that, it also offers 223 bhp and 380Nm torque on offer. The eVitara, on the other hand, with the lower battery pack, offers a real world range of about 320 Kms. Power and torque for the front wheel drive variant stands at 142 Bhp-189 Nm – too low, in comparison with the Be 6.
Maruti Suzuki is probably seriously wondering what to do with the eVitara’s pricing in India. Maruti has usually always offered tempting pricing in comparison with competition. A higher price band for the eVitara does not make sense at all. Customers may not even bother to look at it! On the other hand, Maruti may expect only sales numbering in the hundreds per month, focusing on exports instead of selling in India. That is the only way they can stick to that pricing we mentioned above.
Impact on the Indian EV Market
The Suzuki e Vitara’s launch marks a significant milestone for Maruti Suzuki and the Indian EV landscape. The e Vitara’s pricing will determine how big its challenge would be. Would it end up as another Jimny, or can it pose a serious challenge? Manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat facility, the e Vitara supports the “Make in India” initiative, with 50% of units earmarked for export. Still, the Indian market is crucial – and a rejection by the market will be a blow to Maruti’s tentative step into the world of EVs in India.
