Maruti's Two Big Launches For 2025 Are Both SUVs: Details

Maruti Suzuki – India’s largest car manufacturer – has several models in their lineup. Maruti has been one of those brands that has been working hard to improve the overall experience. They update the existing models and even come out with new ones in a timely manner. This year, Maruti has plans to launch two new products in the Indian market. Both these models are going to be SUVs.
Maruti Suzuki will be launching their first-ever electric vehicle, the eVitara, in the Indian market later this year. The electric SUV was officially unveiled in India at the Auto Expo this year. The electric version of the Grand Vitara is an all-new SUV and is built from scratch. It uses the HEARTECT-e platform, a skateboard platform specifically designed for EVs.
The electric SUV comes with Y-shaped LED DRLs and LED headlamps. It is packed with modern features and will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric and the upcoming Harrier.ev in the segment.
Maruti Suzuki will be manufacturing this electric SUV at their facility in Gujarat. The EV’s Toyota version will also be made here and will be exported to other markets.
Coming to the interior, the Maruti eVitara will get a cabin that is different from other Maruti cars that we have seen to date.
It gets square-shaped AC vents with silver outlines, a twin-deck floating-type center console with storage underneath, a rotary gear knob, an electric sunroof, a floating-type touchscreen infotainment system, and a fully digital instrument cluster. The steering wheel on the eVitara is a new unit with a flat bottom.
The SUV also comes with drive modes (Sport, Eco, and Normal), ventilated front seats with 10-way electric adjustments for the driver’s seat, seven airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, and Level 2 ADAS.
Maruti will be offering the eVitara with a 49 kWh battery pack and a 61 kWh battery pack option. Internationally, the 61 kWh option will get an AWD feature too. India is unlikely to get this feature as it would take the price up. The SUV will officially go on sale in India from September this year.
The next launch from Maruti this year is the 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara. Maruti is currently conducting road tests of the almost production-ready version, and the same has been spotted testing on the road too. In fact, Toyota has also started testing their version of the Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV.
The SUV will be based on the Grand Vitara 5-seater SUV, which is currently doing well in the market. Maruti will make cosmetic changes and will add more features to justify the premium. It will be longer than the Grand Vitara as it is a three-row SUV. The wheelbase is likely to remain the same as the 5-seater SUV.
It will be powered by the same 1.5-litre NA petrol mild hybrid engine, which is offered with a manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission, and a 1.5-litre strong hybrid petrol engine, which is offered with an e-CVT gearbox only. The Grand Vitara 7-seater is expected to get launched by the end of this year.
