Maruti Suzuki seems to have promising plans for 2025. The carmaker is expected to launch at least three new cars in 2025. The planned launches include Maruti’s first-ever EV as well. It had recently revealed the e Vitara electric SUV. In addition to these, the 7-seater Grand Vitara and facelifted Fronx are to be expected. In this article, we will talk about three such cars and SUVs. We expect these to make their first public appearances at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in Jan 2025.
1. Maruti e Vitara:
Maruti Suzuki showcased the eVitara in Italy last month. The India-spec will be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo. It has been spotted testing recently near Maruti Suzuki’s plant. It will be based on the new-age Heartect-e skateboard platform. Courtesy of the new platform, the eVitara is larger than the ICE Grand Vitara. The length, width and height are 4,275 mm, 1,800 mm, and 1,635 mm respectively. The wheelbase stands at 2,700 mm. The vehicle will have a ground clearance of 180 mm.
The EV will have three drivetrain choices- a front-wheel-drive with a 49 kWh battery, an FWD with a bigger 61 kWh and a dual-motor AWD version. The electric motor, in the first case, is expected to produce 144 bhp and 189 Nm. The second configuration will offer 174 bhp and 189 Nm and the AWD version will have 184 bhp and 300 Nm on tap. The real-world range could stand near 500 km range.
The exterior design stays true to that of the eVX that was shown in India and Japan previously. The production-spec, however, has a few key deviations from the concept as well. Key highlights include a set of projector LED headlights, Y-shaped LED DRLs, a closed-off grille, LED fog lights, hexagonal wheel arches with chunky cladding, and connected LED tail lamps.
On the inside, the eVitara would have features like a dual-connected screen layout, physical buttons for the single-zone automatic climate control, flat-top and bottom steering wheel, single-pane electric sunroof, rotary knob for gear selection, a floating centre console with integrated charging ports, and an electronic parking brake.
2. 7-Seater Grand Vitara
The carmaker is also known to launch the 7-seater guise of the Grand Vitara next year. Codenamed Y17, the three-row SUV will rival the likes of MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700, and Tata Safari. It will be made at Maruti’s new manufacturing facility in Kharkhoda. Not many details of the SUV are known. It is likely that it would come with a 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid and 1.5L Atkinson strong hybrid powertrain options.
The mild hybrid will be able to produce 103bhp while the strong hybrid will likely make 115bhp and have a fuel efficiency of up to 27.97kmpl. In Maruti’s lineup, the new vehicle will sit above the Grand Vitara. The price could fall in the range of ₹15 lakh and ₹25 lakh.
3. Maruti Fronx facelift
Maruti Suzuki will introduce the facelifted Fronx in India, next year. The new model will have significant changes in terms of design, interior, features and mechanicals. A previous set of spy pictures confirmed that the new Fronx will come with an ADAS suite.
It will debut a new series hybrid powertrain. Later, the series hybrid technology will make its way into other Maruti Suzuki models like Swift and Baleno. In addition to the series hybrid, it will also have the 1.2L 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine.
