Maruti Suzuki last year launched the all-new Swift in the market. Unlike the previous-generation models, the current version has been receiving mixed responses. Some people are concerned about the looks, while others are not fans of the 3-cylinder engine. It seems like Maruti is working hard to make sturdy cars for customers in India. We recently saw a video where a new-generation Dzire was involved in a crash. Now, we have another video from Kerala where the current-generation Swift was sandwiched between a Kia Seltos and a private bus. How did the car perform? Let’s check the video to find out.

The video has been shared by Anoop OR on Instagram. The accident occurred somewhere in Kerala. The video is posted with a caption that says the accident happened at the Vengaloor junction in Malappuram district. The video was recorded by a person passing through the same road after the crash.
In this video, we see a Kia Seltos at the back and a pink-colored private bus in the front. Between the SUV and the bus, there is a red-colored Maruti Swift. The rear of the hatchback is damaged, and the front of the car is actually under the bus. The front of the Kia Seltos is also damaged in the crash, with minor damage to the bus.
We checked the comment section to see what exactly happened, and we were not disappointed. One user mentioned that the private bus and the Maruti Swift were waiting at the traffic signal. The Kia Seltos, which was speeding, couldn’t stop in time and crashed into the Swift. The poor Swift driver was behind the bus and had no choice.
On impact, the hatchback was pushed forward, and the bonnet along with other parts were trapped under the bus. The rear of the Maruti Swift caved in, and the front of the hatchback was also damaged. We believe the bonnet, bumper, headlamp, and other components under the bonnet were damaged at the front.
As for the occupants, the comments mention that all passengers in the Maruti Swift were safe and escaped without injuries. If you watch the video carefully, you’ll notice that the airbags deployed on time, which helped protect the driver and passenger. Apart from that, we feel the car performed decently in this crash.
Looking at the damage to the Kia Seltos and the Swift, it appears the Seltos was being driven at high speed, and for a high-speed crash, the Swift performed quite well.
The cabin of the car looks intact, and even the pillars of the hatchback remain unscathed. The front and rear windshields of the hatchback shattered in the crash, but we feel that is quite natural.
The structure, however, managed to hold up in the crash, and that is one factor that saved the occupants. The Swift has not undergone any crash tests in India, and it remains to be seen if Maruti will conduct one in the future. The Maruti Dzire, however, did undergo testing and scored a 5-star rating at Global NCAP.
