The SUV segment in India may be dominated by the iconic Toyota Fortuner but we for sure have some interesting cars in this segment. One such car is the MG Gloster which was launched in 2020. Today, we will talk about the MG Gloster in detail via a YouTube video uploaded by Fuel Injected.

The SUV shown in the video is the Gloster Sandstorm edition which has some cosmetic changes over the regular Gloster. First, let’s talk about the dimensions of this massive SUV. The MG Gloster measures 4985 mm in length, 1926 mm in width and about 1867 mm in height. In contrast, the Fortuner measures 4795 mm in length, 1855 mm in width and 1835 mm in height. The Gloster is much bigger than the Toyota Fortuner.

The video starts with the front look of the car which is dominated by a huge glossy black grille. As, this is the Sandstorm edition, there are no chrome elements except the chrome skid plate. The headlights feature a dual projector LED setup along with a sporty red insert unique to the Sandstorm and Blackstorm editions. The fog lamps are halogen. Additionally, this SUV also gets a 360 degree camera setup and front parking sensors.

From the side profile, the car looks huge. As this is the Sandstorm edition, it features blacked out ORVMs, door handles, alloy wheels and roof rails. The car drives on 19-inch glossy black alloy wheels with red brake calipers. The ORVMs feature a camera for the 360 degree setup and them come with electric adjustment and folding functionality.

The rear profile of the car comes with an all LED setup along with all the necessary features such as rear wiper with washer, defogger and reverse parking camera with sensors. A single chrome strip can be seen on the rear. The tailgate is fully electric and it can be opened with the press of a button.

The host mentions that the boot space of the car is decent enough and the Gloster is one of those cars which can easily seat adults on the third row even for long distances. He compares this space to the Toyota Fortuner and adds that the third row of Fortuner cannot seat adults comfortably.

The car shown in the video is the six seater version of the Gloster and the SUV is also offered with seven seat configuration. The six seater version comes with captain seats in the second row. The cabin of the Gloster feels very luxury and premium. The door pads and the dashboard are entirely covered in leather. The host mentions that the door pockets are not big enough.

Regarding the space, the host says that this SUV is much better in terms of space as compared to the Fortuner. Amenities in the second row include a 12V socket and a USB port. As this SUV comes with a three zone AC, you can set different temperature for the driver, co-driver and the rear seats.

The key features of the MG Gloster include keyless entry with push button start, adaptive cruise control, 8-way adjustable driver seat with heating, massage, ventilation & two memory functions, 4-way power adjustable co-driver seat with heating function, fully digital instrument cluster, 64 color ambient lighting, 10.25-inch instrument cluster and much more.

The ex-showroom pricing for the MG Gloster starts at Rs. 38.80 lakhs and goes up to 43.87 lakhs. The car is available with a single engine option – a 2 liter-4 cylinder turbo diesel in multiple states of tune: 159 Bhp-374 Nm on the lower trims, and 213 Bhp-478.5 Nm on the higher, twin turbo variants. The recently launched Sand Storm and Desert Storm variants use this engine’s lower state of tune. An 8 speed automatic torque converter gearbox is standard with both tunes. While lower trims of the SUV are rear wheel driven, higher trims get a shift-on-the-fly four wheel drive option.
