JSW MG Motor had promised that they would bring new models to the Indian market every six months, and it looks like they are sticking to their promise. At the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo, MG will be unveiling their brand-new MPV, the M9, for India. It is, in fact, the first MPV to be sold by MG in India. It is a premium MPV that will be sold via MG’s premium outlet, MG Select. Before the official unveiling, we now have a video that shows what the upcoming MPV from MG actually offers.
The video has been released by MG Select on their official YouTube channel. In this video, we get a glimpse of the interiors and some of the features that the MG M9 will offer.
For those unaware, the MG M9 is an electric MPV, and it is already on sale in international markets. In the video, we see ottoman seats with a digital display on the armrest. This display is a touch unit that is likely to have controls for various features.
The captain seats in the second row can be electrically adjusted, and the seats are wrapped in tan-colored leatherette material. The second-row seats also get massage functions. The MG M9 will come with three-zone climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system, electrically opening and closing sliding doors, ambient lighting, window shades, tray tables for second-row passengers, and more. The MPV also features a panoramic sunroof or glass roof.
In terms of design, the MPV looks similar to the Toyota Vellfire. It appears huge and spacious on the inside. Coming to the specifications, the MG M9 is powered by a 90 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed driving range of about 580 km. Internationally, the MPV comes in just two shades: Black Pearl and White Pearl.
The MPV is equipped with an 11 kWh charger that takes around 8.5 hours to charge the battery from 5% to 100%. As expected, DC fast charging is available and would take only 30 minutes to charge the battery from 30% to 80%. The 90 kWh battery pack powers an electric motor that generates 241 Bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque.
Talking about the MG M9, Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer, JSW MG Motor India, said, “A personalized masterpiece, the MG M9 offers bespoke interiors, meticulous craftsmanship, and cutting-edge technology. It is the epitome of comfort and refined luxury for those who wish to immerse themselves in the world of elegance. We envision a future where luxury mobility is a norm, and the M9 is a step in that journey.”
The MG M9 will offer several premium features, but the manufacturer is likely to price the MPV aggressively. It may look like a rival to the Innova Hycross, but it is actually competing with the likes of the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire in the segment.
In fact, it might offer as many features as the Vellfire but at less than half the price. MG is expected to offer the MPV at a price of ₹60–65 lakh, and we would be surprised if it is anything below this.
