JSW MG Motor India First Automaker to Sell More EVs
It also has to be noted that JSW MG Motor India has managed to become the first-ever automaker to sell more electric vehicles than ICE vehicles. Why Has the MG Windsor EV Become Such a Big Hit in India?
The biggest and most important reason behind the success of the MG Windsor EV is its pricing. MG has managed to lure in buyers with the help of its starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh. This particular pricing, for those who may not be aware, is available with the BaaS (Battery as a Service) program.
In this program, the owner of the vehicle is not required to pay the price of the battery upfront. Now, this does not mean that the buyer gets a vehicle without a battery. Rather, they get the car with the battery but have to pay a small amount of Rs 3.5 per km as they use the vehicle.
With this program, the cost of acquiring the vehicle comes down significantly, which is very important for Indian car buyers. Additionally, with BaaS, buyers also do not have to worry about the cost of replacement putting a dent in their wallet down the line.
MG is offering a lifetime free warranty on its battery pack for the first owner. Additionally, the first owner can enjoy one year of free charging at public chargers via the newly launched eHub by MG application. To increase the peace of mind of owners, MG offers an assured buyback of 60% after 3 years/45,000 km.
