MG Motor India has revealed the full ex-showroom prices of the newly launched MG Windsor EV- meaning the price of the car and battery combined. The EV now starts at Rs 13.5 lakh, ex-sh, still very attractive. We had previously predicted that the full price could start at 13.59 lakh- extremely close to what has just been revealed!
There are three different trims available on the Windsor: Excite, Exclusive and Essence. The full price of the top-spec Essence trim is ₹15.50 lakh and the mid variant costs 14.5 lakh, ex-showroom. The new MG EV is still more affordable than the Tata Nexon EV. In a nutshell:
- Excite: ₹13.50 lakh (Battery+ Car)
- Exclusive: ₹14.50 lakh (Battery+ Car)
- Essence: ₹15.50 lakh (Battery + Car)
If you were to take the BaaS route, the prices would come down quite a bit. The EV will then start below 10 lakh. The Excite variant has an ex-showroom price of 9.99 lakh, in the battery rental model. MG is yet to announce the BaaS prices of Exclusive and Essence variants. In addition to this, Rs 3.5 per km is to be paid in battery rental.

MG has further announced that the first owner of Windsor EV will get to enjoy a lifetime free warranty on its battery pack and one year of free charging at public chargers via the newly launched eHub by MG application. There will also be an assured buyback of 60% after 3 years / 45,000 km. Windsor will be open to bookings from October 3rd, 2024. As per reports, customers will also be able to rent out battery packs.
MG Windsor: Design
The Windsor EV features a curvy, aerodynamic profile, referred to by MG as the AeroGlide Design, ensuring it stands out on the road. The exterior gets all-LED lighting, including LED positioning lamps and DRLs, a closed-off grille, and an illuminated front MG logo. The sporty side profile is enhanced by first-in-segment 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and smart flush door handles.
The Windsor EV also gets blacked-out B and C pillars and door-side moulding for a sleek look. The charging port is conveniently located just above the front left fender. At the rear, the electric CUV sports connected LED tail lamps and a first-in-segment glass antenna. With a best-in-segment wheelbase of 2,700 mm, the MG Windsor EV ensures both a stable ride and a spacious cabin experience.
Interior And Features
MG tries to make people relate the Windsor to luxurious business jets. It comes with first-in-segment aero-lounge seats which can recline up to 135°, for maximum comfort. Also offers a first-in-segment infinity-view glass roof, providing breathtaking views of the sky and making the cabin airy and pleasant by letting in ample light at all times.
MG Windsor EV further comes with a 15.6-inch jumbo touchscreen infotainment system, the largest in its segment. Other features include a digital driver display, a 9-speaker Infinity audio system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and first-in-segment 256-color ambient lighting. It also offers the likes of a wireless charger, ventilated front-row seats, a multi-function steering wheel with mounted controls, and a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat.
The EV also boasts the largest boot space in its segment, offering 604 litres of storage, ensuring plenty of room for luggage or gear. All these features combine to offer a premium driving experience with both style and substance.
In terms of powertrains, the vehicle gets a 38 kWh battery pack, mated to a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 136 hp and 200 Nm. The claimed range is 331 km per charge.
