MG Motor India has launched the all-new Windsor EV Pro in the country with a claimed range of 449 km per charge, brought about by its larger 53 kWh battery pack. Let's take you through some images that would explain the Windsor Pro better.
The Top-Spec Variant
MG has launched the Windsor Pro as the range-topping variant in the Windsor lineup. It sits above the Essence variant, and is called the Essence Pro. It seems like a smart strategy to keep the 53 kWh battery exclusive to the top-spec variant, instead of rolling out a distinctive long-range iteration of the Windsor, considering the EV's stellar acceptance in the Indian market.
Gets New Colours:
Giving it a distinctive visual identity, JSW MG Motor India has given the Windsor Pro three new colours- Glaze Red, Aurora Silver, and Celadon Blue. These look good on the vehicle.
New Interior
The Windsor Pro's interior differs from that of the regular EV. The overall layout remains comparable. However, the colour theme has made a transition to a more pleasant, dual-tone Ivory colourway, from the previous all-Black scheme. More interestingly, the cabin also gets faux wood trims and classy Copper finishes.
Features
The feature-list has been revamped as well. It now comes with a panoramic glass roof (Infinity View glass roof), ventilated front seats, a 15.6 inch central touchscreen (which is the largest in segment), a digital instrument cluster, Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Wireless charging pads, automatic climate control and cruise control. Other notable features include a powered tailgate and a 6-way adjustable powered driver seat.
The vehicle also features a 9-speaker Infinity sound system. The suite consists of four tweeters, four speakers and a subwoofer. The vehicle also comes with 256 colour ambient (mood) lighting.
Comfortable Seats
The seats also feature a 135-degree reclining function, and the manufacturer calls it the 'Aero lounge' experience. These seats excel with their comfort levels and space offered.
Gets V2L!
The Windsor EV also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging. V2L is a smart feature that lets your electric car supply power to other devices. From small gadgets to electric tools — or even another EV — the Windsor Pro can share its stored energy, just like a portable generator.
The tech behind it is simple but effective. EV batteries store DC power, but most household devices run on AC power. V2L-capable vehicles like the Windsor Pro have a built-in DC-to-AC converter and a dedicated plug point — often a standard 3-pin socket inside the car or on the outside.
So whether you want to boil water with an electric kettle during a road trip, charge your laptop in the middle of nowhere, or even light up a campsite, the Windsor Pro’s V2L feature lets you do it all — straight from your car.
Comes With Level 2 ADAS
The carmaker has also given the Windsor Pro a level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) suite. These work based on three levels of warning- haptic, audio and visual. Available functions include Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Adaptive Cruise Control, Bend Cruise Assistance, Lane Functions, Forward Collision warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Hydraulic Braking Assistance, Intelligent Headlamp Control.
More Safety Features
The safety suite also consists of six airbags which are offered across variants. Other safety technology on offer include ESP, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, four disc brakes, electronic parking brake, direct Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ISOFIX mounts and more.
The Larger Battery Pack Makes The Range Spike!
The most important upgrade in the Windsor Pro is its new 52.9 kWh battery (which features prismatic cells), replacing the standard model’s 38 kWh unit. This bigger battery boosts the claimed range to 449 km, a big jump from the regular version’s 331 km.
This is a major plus for those who drive long distances or travel on highways often. It also gives the Windsor Pro a strong edge over most other EVs in the same price range.
