It looks like 2025 has enough in stock for car enthusiasts. We expect a lot of cars and SUVs to make their debut at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. January itself promises to kick things off with a bang. Here are 10 new cars launching in the first month of 2025- from Maruti Suzukis to Skodas- a handful of interesting launches are in the pipeline.
KIA Syros
KIA recently unveiled the Syros sub-compact SUV for India. The market launch will happen in January next year and the vehicle will sit in between the Sonet and Seltos in KIA India’s domestic portfolio. The Syros features an unconventional but good-looking design, packs a lot of features and comes with two powertrain choices- a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine and the familiar 1.5L diesel engine.
Hyundai Creta EV
Hyundai will launch the much-awaited Creta EV, at the Expo. This will likely be the manufacturer’s first mass-market EV offering for India. Of course, the Kona was there, but with a much higher price. The electric Creta is expected to borrow its powertrain and battery from the Kona. The design will have a clear influence of the ICE Creta in it.
The Creta EV could come with a 48 kWh battery pack that delivers around 300 kilometres in range. Reports say that the Creta EV’s electric motor would generate 134 Bhp and 255 Nm. The vehicle will likely be able to do the 0-100 kph run in just 8-8.5 seconds. We will get to know more about these only closer to the actual launch.
Maruti eVitara
The eVitara will be Maruti Suzuki’s first all-electric offering. It was recently revealed in Milan. The India-debut is expected at the Expo in January 2025.
It is based on a new Heartect-e skateboard platform and is bigger than the outgoing Grand Vitara in dimensions. The length here is 4,275 mm. It gets a ground clearance of 180 mm. The vehicle will come with a 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs and will have a FWD layout. There will be a front-mounted single motor and a dual motor configurations available.
A peak output of 144 bhp and 189 Nm is to be expected on the smaller battery version while 174 bhp and 189 Nm would be available on the larger battery pack. It remains to be seen how Maruti Suzuki will price this EV in the Indian market.
Mahindra BE 6
Mahindra will showcase its Electric Origin SUVs- the BE 6 and XEV 9e at the Expo and will reveal the variants and price details in January. The BE 6 has a starting price of less than 20 lakh- precisely 18.79 lakh ex-showroom. This EV has been imagined from ground-up, and is based on Mahindra’s new-age INGLO platform. It gets a rear-mounted single motor setup that produces 280 hp and 380 Nm. There will be two battery pack choices upon launch- 59 kWh and 79 kWh.
Mahindra XEV 9e
The XEV 9e could be called the electric coupe version of the XUV 700. It is underpinned by the same INGLO architecture and has the same set of battery packs- 59 kWh and 79 kWh as the BE 6. The starting price for this vehicle is 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The key attraction inside, is the triple screen cluster and a bunch of other features which we have talked in detail in our previous articles. The carmaker will announce the variants and price details of the 9e during its market launch at the Expo.
Tata Harrier EV
Test mules of the Tata Harrier EV were frequent sights in 2024, and the production form is expected to arrive on January 17, 2025. It could debut alongside the Sierra and Safari EVs at the Expo. The design will have strong resemblance to that of the ICE version. However, expect to spot a closed-off EV grille, new wheels, fresh-looking bumpers and more.
The Harrier.EV will be underpinned by the Acti.EV platform and will have a rear-mounted motor. There will be AWD as well. The range is expected to hover over 500 km per charge. On the inside, you can expect to find a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
Mahindra is known to be readying an EV based on the recently launched XUV 3XO. It will sit below the XUV 400 in the carmaker’s portfolio and will be smaller in dimensions- being a sub-4m electric SUV. It is likely to feature the same powertrain as the XUV 400, even though specifics remain unknown at the moment.
Tata Safari EV
The other EV SUV to be expected from Tata Motors is the Safari EV. It will likely have the same underpinnings and powertrains as the Harrier EV, and bigger proportions ( like how the ICE versions of the SUVs are). AWD will be on offer. The EV will also come with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated seats, JBL sound system, rear sunshades, a gesture-controlled powered tailgate, and a panoramic sunroof. It will also have vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) abilities.
MG Cyberster
JSW MG Motor India will launch the Cyberster electric sportscar. It will have a two-seater convertible layout with a fabric top. The India-spec will come with a 77 kWh Lithum-ion battery pack. The car will have two electric motors that would deliver a combined output of 510 hp and 725Nm. AWD would be on offer. The EV will do the 0-100 kph in 3.2 seconds. Expect a CLTC range of 580 kilometers per charge.
The Cyberster’s suspension setup will consist of double wishbones at the front and a five-link setup at the rear. It will also have a 50:50 weight distribution. MG will sell the Cyberster through the new MG Select premium outlets, and will showcase it at the Expo 2025.
All New Kodiaq
What to expect from Skoda in early 2025? The new Kodiaq! Yes, the SUV is about to get a major overhaul. It will make a transition to the new-age ‘Modern Solid’ design philosophy and will also pack more tech and features. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine will remain untouched and likely produce 190 bhp and 320 Nm. There will be 4X4 offered on select variants. Prices could see slight upward revisions.
