The Indian arm of South Korean automotive giant, Kia Motors, is gearing up to launch new models in India. These models will be making their debut in the coming months. Kia Syros

Scheduled to be unveiled on December 19, the Syros will be Kia’s newest addition to its lineup in India. This unique, boxy SUV will be positioned between the Kia Seltos mid-size SUV and the Sonet sub-compact SUV. As for its official launch, that will take place in January next year at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Auto Expo.

In terms of design, the Syros will boast a unique SUV style with a hint of minivan design. This new SUV will come loaded with features, including a panoramic sunroof, ADAS Level 2, and premium materials on the inside.

As for the powertrain, the Syros is expected to get the 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel engines. The former will make 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque, while the latter is expected to make 115 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.

Kia Carens Facelift

Following the launch of the Syros, Kia will be introducing the much-awaited Carens facelift in India. Test mules of this MPV have been spotted testing in the country on numerous occasions. It has been noted that the Carens facelift will be offered with a brand-new front fascia with new LED headlights and a connecting LED DRL at the front.

It will also get new C-shaped LED taillights, which will be connected by an LED strip. The side profile, although it will remain the same, will get a new set of dual-tone alloy wheels. The interior is expected to get a new dashboard layout.

As for features, the Carens facelift is expected to get ADAS Level 2, a 360-degree reverse camera, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, and an air purifier. Powertrain options will remain the same as the current model: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine are expected. Expect a price bump over the current Carens pricing of Rs. 10.52–19.94 lakh.

Kia India has also been testing the EV version of the Carens in the country. As per the reports, the Kia Carens EV will be offered with a 45 kWh battery pack, which it will share with the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. Range is expected to be around 400 km on a single full charge.

In terms of design, the Carens EV will get a typical closed-off grille and some other EV-specific design cues. As for the launch date, the company has not revealed the exact dates. However, most likely, it will be launched in the second half of next year. Once launched, it will take on the BYD eMax 7 EV MPV.

In addition to the Syros ICE, Kia is also working on the development of the electric version of this SUV. Currently, the company does not offer any EV in India. It is believed that Kia will be offering the Syros EV with a 35–40 kWh battery pack. With this, it is expected to offer a range of around 400 km. There is a possibility that an all-wheel-drive variant will also be offered.
