New Maruti Swift Already Selling At Discounts: We Explain Why

Maruti Swift discount

Maruti Suzuki launched the all-new Swift in the Indian market a few months ago, and to everyone’s surprise, the manufacturer has already started offering discounts on this hatchback. Maruti Suzuki is offering discounts on many other models, including the all-new Swift. The discounts on the Maruti Swift are for the month of July, and it should be noted that discounts and offers may vary from one city to another. It is always a good idea to get in touch with the nearest dealership to know about these offers in detail.

Maruti Swift Discount

Maruti Suzuki is offering a discount on the recently launched Swift hatchback. As per various reports, Maruti dealerships have been offering a discount of Rs 10,000-Rs 15,000 on the new Swift since last month. However, for the month of July, the Maruti Swift is getting an official discount of Rs 15,000. This is, in fact, an exchange bonus. Some dealerships even have unsold units of the last-gen Swift, and those models are attracting a discount of Rs 35,000 on petrol and Rs 15,000 on the CNG variants.

We understand that Maruti is trying to sell off their unsold previous-generation Swift by offering discounts, but why is the manufacturer offering discounts on the new Swift, which was launched only a few months ago? Let’s find out.

Pricing: When compared to the previous generation Swift, the price for the new one has gone up. In fact, it is now very close to the Maruti Baleno. The price for the new-gen Swift starts at Rs 6.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.49 lakh. The Baleno, on the other hand, starts at Rs 7.50 lakh and goes up to Rs 11.01 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

When a customer notices that there is only a minor difference between the prices of these two premium hatchbacks, they tend to go for the Baleno as it is sold via the Nexa dealership as a premium product.

More Expensive than the Previous Model: When compared to the previous third-generation Swift, the current version is at least Rs 50,000 more expensive. This probably pushed away a lot of customers and forced them to look for alternative options.

Shift in Customer Interest: Most car buyers in India have slowly started shifting towards SUVs. This shift towards SUVs is lowering the demand for cars in the hatchback and sedan segments. If you look at the market, there are several crossovers like the Maruti Fronx and Maruti Brezza available at the same price as the Swift. Any Maruti customer who visits the dealership would notice this and might change their decision from buying a hatchback to an SUV or crossover in the same price bracket.

Not Exciting Enough: This is one of the other major reasons why we are not seeing many new-gen Swifts on our roads. Although this is a generation above the last one, the design is an evolution, and there are many people who did not like it. The design and the proportions feel a bit odd to many on the road, which is also driving people away from buying the new Swift.

Lack of CNG: While the current generation Swift is extremely fuel-efficient, there is a section of buyers who are not satisfied with it and want a CNG option in the new Swift. Maruti will be introducing a CNG version soon, but customers are not willing to wait until then.
