Although sedans have been losing their market share to SUVs, Skoda and Toyota are still planning to launch their flagship sedans in India. The Czech automaker will be launching its Superb, and Toyota will be launching the ninth-generation Camry in 2025. So, we thought we should give you all the details of these flagship sedans before they arrive in India next year.
2025 Skoda Superb: Details
First off, let’s talk about the Skoda Superb. This D-segment sedan’s newest generation model will be based on the “Modern Solid” design language of the brand. It will get a revamped front fascia with a new octagonal grille with a ton of chrome elements. It will also get LED matrix headlights.
Apart from these, the sedan will also get a brand-new front bumper. Moving on to the side profile, it will get new 19-inch turbine-styled alloy wheels. Meanwhile, at the rear, it will come equipped with new slimmer LED taillights and a new rear bumper.
Dimensionally, the new Superb will be 40mm longer, 5mm taller, and its boot capacity will increase by 20 liters. As for the interior, it will have a minimalistic dashboard with a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment screen dominating the center.
There will also be sleek AC vents. Apart from this, a 10-inch digital instrument gauge cluster and a two-spoke steering wheel will also be included. The international model comes with a tan leather interior, but whether the Indian version will come with it has not been confirmed.
New Skoda Superb Powertrain Options
The internationally unveiled Skoda Superb comes equipped with a total of four drivetrain options. These include a 1.5-liter turbo mild-hybrid petrol engine making 150 PS. It comes mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox and offers an FWD layout. Meanwhile, the other option is a 1.5-liter plug-in hybrid making 204 PS.
Two other engine options include a 2.0-liter turbo petrol making 204 PS with FWD and 265 PS with AWD. Lastly, there is also a 2.0-liter diesel engine, which makes 150 PS and 193 PS in FWD and AWD configurations. Which exact engines will be offered in India is unknown.
Ninth-Generation Toyota Camry: Details
Competing in the same D-segment, Toyota is also gearing up for the launch of the ninth-generation Camry in India early next year. Like the Superb, the new Camry will also boast an evolutionary design rather than a revolutionary one. This time around, it will get Lexus-inspired design elements.
These will include a sculpted, anvil-shaped nose, new LED headlights that will be sleeker, and C-shaped LED DRLs. The front bumper will also look a lot more aggressive. As for the side profile, it will get a set of new alloy wheels. Lastly, the rear will also be a lot sharper.
Moving on to the changes in the interior, the new ninth-generation Camry will get a slightly redesigned cabin. The updates will include a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ADAS, new rear seats with reclining and ventilation, and a few other features.
New Toyota Camry: Powertrain Options
As for the powertrain option, the newest generation of the Toyota Camry will be offered with an updated engine. It will get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol hybrid powertrain, which will now make 227 bhp. Impressively, despite making this amount of power, it will still be able to deliver around 25 kmpl, according to reports.
