Next-Generation Kia Seltos To Get Telluride-Inspired Front – New Spy Shots Out

Kia is readying the next generation Seltos and the same is known to make its way into the Indian market as well. The Seltos was Kia’s first product for the Indian market and played a key role in establishing the brand here. The facelift is thus of prime importance and looked up to by many. The first generation SUV had enough X factor to garner sales, and the facelift too lived up to the name fairly well. The new generation that is currently brewing in South Korea is also expected to pack a lot of surprises. A couple of spy pictures had recently surfaced, and the latest ones suggest the SUV to feature a Telluride-inspired exterior design.

New Kia Seltos Design: What To Expect?

The Seltos made its debut in July 2023, and in a matter of just 17 months, we are talking about a new generation- this could sound like a rather fast evolution to many. The same is Kia’s success mantra. They know to stay updated in the game and bag volumes. KIA loves to innovate with exterior/ interior design and features. The same is likely to happen with the new generation of Seltos as well.

The upcoming SUV will have a more imposing front fascia. The spy shots suggest that the new Seltos will have a Telluride-like front design. The Telluride is Kia’s flagship (ICE) SUV and is quite an impressive product. It managed to impress everyone ( including us journalists) so much that it was awarded the World Car Of The Year (WCOTY) title in 2020. Taking inspiration from it will surely help to boost the new Seltos’ road presence and visual appeal.

The vehicle will have a simple but imposing design. It will have boxy headlights, a large grille and a few other Telluride-like design attributes. Like the flagship, the new Seltos could also be a handsome product. The Seltos too is a global vehicle. Thus, getting the design right and binding it well with Telluride’s cues, could help in increasing its appeal in the global car scene. The spy shots also show front parking sensors and radar modules for ADAS. In addition to this, there are also vertically aligned LED signature lamps.

Previous spy shots had given quick looks at the rear design and tail lamps. There could be a connected tail lamp design with angular C-shaped elements- like what you see on the EV5- on the upcoming SUV. The vehicle could also come with a new set of wheels.

Expected Features

The cabin is likely to come with a design that looks similar to that of the upcoming Syros. A new 2-spoke steering wheel with an off-centre Kia logo is to be expected. Other features could include a large touchscreen infotainment and instrumentation screen, a HUD, front and rear ventilated seats etc. There will be generous use of soft-touch materials and premium trims.

Expected Engines And Platforms

The new generation Seltos is hoped to come with the same set of engines and transmissions as before, and will be underpinned by the same K2 platform. It could thus feature the 1.5L NA Petrol, 1.5L turbocharged petrol and 1.5L Diesel engines. Both automatic and manual transmissions can be expected.

Kia is also known to be working on a hybrid version of the SUV featuring a bigger 1.6L petrol engine mated to an electric motor. This could produce 141 bhp and 265 Nm and return fuel efficiencies of 18.1-19.8 kmpl. The new Seltos could launch in India by the end of 2025, or in early 2026.
