Nissan is readying to launch the facelifted Magnite in India on October 4, 2024. Bookings are already underway and deliveries will commence from the 5th of October. The manufacturer has recently been teasing us with images and videos of the new car. Several key clues on what’s coming are already out. Here’s a look at what to expect from the new Magnite:
New Exterior
The facelift will feature a bunch of exterior design changes. We hardly have any confirmed information on what these changes would be. The first official teaser revealed the alloy wheel design. It was previously rumoured to feature new 7-spoke wheels. However, the teaser confirms a new set of 6-spoke dual-tone alloys instead.
The front fascia is expected to feature changes. While the overall shape and layout could seem familiar, the new Magnite will have a larger grille with more attention to detail, better headlamps, revised bumpers etc. The front bumper will get a fair-sized skid plate as well. This could be finished in Satin Silver and can be seen for less than a second in the newest teaser.
The facelift will also come with large L-shaped LED DRLs. Similar units were also available on the pre-facelift car. Together with the revised front styling, new bumpers and better-looking skid plates, these could pack more visual appeal on the new car.
Nissan previously gave us a glimpse at the tail lamp design. The Shape and size of these are expected to remain mostly unchanged. However, they will get new LED elements inside with better attention to detail. There will likely be new rear bumpers with integrated skid plates. The tailgate could also pack visual differentiation.
New Interior And More Features
We knew that the new Magnite would come with a revised cabin styling. A new teaser image, used by Nissan on one of its online campaigns, however, suggests the changes to be more comprehensive than what was expected. The interior will likely get a new colourway and better design. It will use more upmarket trims and have a better feel to it.
There will be feature additions too. The new Magnite will come with a larger touchscreen. The outgoing version has an 8-inch screen. The image shows a screen that is notably larger, and better integrated into the centre console. It will have wireless Carplay and Android Auto, like on the present model. Other expected features include a digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, ventilated seats, a premium audio system and wireless phone charging.
It is believed that a single-pane sunroof will find a place on the new Magnite. The current version doesn’t get one even on the top variant. This could change with the facelift, as this is a highly sought-after feature in the Indian market.
To ensure and enhance safety, things like 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), 360-degree camera, hill start assist, traction control, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors could be present.
Powertrains To Remain Unchanged
As per reports, powertrains on the facelifted Magnite will most likely be the same as those of the outgoing model- a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol. The NA engine produces 71 bhp and 96 Nm on the outgoing car while the turbo version is good enough to deliver 100 bhp and 160 Nm. It remains to be seen if the manufacturer will tweak these states of tune on the facelift. At present, a 5-speed manual, CVT and AMT transmissions are available.
Critical Product For Nissan In India
The Magnite is an important product for Nissan India, as it has been an excellent volume seller. Thus, living up to its reputation is something the facelift would have to do. If packed well as a product, and priced right, the new Magnite could build on its predecessor’s success and earn fortunes here.
