Professional Stuntman Flips Mahindra Scorpio SUV For Movie: Live Footage

In Indian movies, we have often seen several sequences where cars and SUVs are used. If it is an action movie, the use of cars is a bit more prevalent as they are used as props during chase scenes or other action sequences. During the shoot, some of these cars are also destroyed as part of the scene. In some shots, we see cars flipping and even going airborne. In most cases, these stunts are not performed by the lead actors but by professional stuntmen. Here, we have one such video where a Mahindra Scorpio SUV is flipped as part of a movie shoot.
The video has been shared by Pet Jungle Hyderabad on their Instagram page. It looks like a movie was being shot in Hyderabad city, featuring an action sequence. According to the video, the scene was being filmed for an upcoming movie titled Don 360. In this video, we see that the crew has blocked traffic on a road and placed a metal pole with a ramp in the middle of the street.
Behind that pole is a Mahindra Scorpio SUV. The pole and ramp have been secured in place using several sacks of sand or some other heavy material. The camera is recording the action involving the Scorpio SUV. When the director gives the cue, the driver starts the car and accelerates forward. The SUV is moving at high speed, which is evident from the footage.
At high speed, the Scorpio SUV hits the ramp and almost immediately goes airborne. The SUV flips mid-air before landing on the road again. It lands on its roof and, due to the momentum, does not stop upon impact. The SUV starts sliding on its roof before flipping again and coming back onto its wheels.
By the time the SUV flipped the last time, it was too close to the crew, and everyone, including the cameraman recording the video, panicked and started picking up the camera. The SUV veered to the left side of the road and hit a boulder before coming to a stop. Everyone present on the set was visibly shaken.
The SUV narrowly missed a scooter that was parked next to the road. In the end, we see the stuntman get out of the car and stand on the bonnet of the vehicle. The Scorpio is badly damaged, and we don’t think it is worth repairing anymore. These cars are used as props and are bought specifically for movie shoots.
The sole purpose of such cars is destruction. Regarding the stunt, it was a dangerous one, and we do not recommend anyone attempt it on their own. The SUVs used for these stunts are prepared by experts in the field.
These cars have a roll cage inside to protect the driver. Additionally, the interiors are completely stripped to minimize injury during the crash. The driver is also an expert in this field and wears a safety helmet, knee pads, and gloves for protection.
The regular seatbelt is replaced with a five-point seatbelt for extra safety. In the past, we have also seen a Volkswagen Polo used for a similar stunt in a Malayalam movie.
