You and I know the Rolls Royce Cullinan. It is the first SUV model from the luxury car manufacturer and has been a huge hit across the world. A lot of billionaires have added this vehicle to their garages. In India, Mukesh Ambani could be one with the most number of Cullinans in his garage. In a recent video by Namaste Car, we get to see the Cullinan Series II in detail.
The video shows a tastefully specced Cullinan stationed at what looks like a dealer outlet. The Cullinan shown here wears the Emperador Truffle body paint. The company offers the choice to have the bonnet in Satin Silver, which this car (thankfully) doesn’t get. It gets a single White coach line. Owners can also choose twin coach lines if interested. There are a lot of colour, trim and detailing options for owners to choose from. Rolls-Royce cars are among the few vehicles which offer infinite personalisation choices.
The Series II Cullinan is quite large in its dimensions. It spans 5,341 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,835 mm in height. The wheelbase stands at a good 3,295 mm. Highlights on the exterior are L-shaped LED daytime running lights. LED headlamps, refreshed front bumper, slightly reworked grille, stainless steel skid plate, and new 23-inch wheels with Pirelli PZero rubber. The fuel cap here is metallic, and there is even an electronic tow hinge!
On the inside, the facelift hosts a bunch of upgrades over the model it replaces. It now gets a full-width Glass dashboard with a detailed analogue clock, miniaturized, illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy mascot and wood veneer finish. The Infotainment system has been updated with new graphics and customizable displays that now colour-match the instrument cluster with the body paint or upholstery colour, depending on user preferences.
Like most modern Rolls Royce models, the Cullinan Series II comes with a cabin that’s packed with features, technology and luxury. It gets individual displays for the rear occupants which they can use for several functions including controlling various vehicle features.
The vehicle also gets rear curtains, retractable partition glass, a picnic table, premium leather upholstery, an optional Shooting Star headliner, a sunroof, rear climate zones, an electric parking brake, a wireless charger, electrically operated doors, and more.
Rolls Royce says that 70% of owners prefer to drive the Cullinan themselves. Most owners fall in the 43 years age group. Back in 2010, the average clientele was 56 years old. The age has now fallen to the forties- a good sign in many ways.
The SUV is powered by the familiar 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine that produces 565 bhp, 850 Nm on the Series II (The Black Badge version gets a beefier 591 bhp and 900 Nm).
The engine comes mated to a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission and gets AWD. The Cullinan also happens to be the first Rolls Royce car to get All Wheel Drive technology. It is quite a fun-to-drive car. The Cullinan gets self-levelling air suspension and rear-wheel steering for improved handling and ride quality.
Rolls Royce has based the Cullinan on the ‘Architecture of Luxury’ platform, which also underpins the Ghost. This platform was first used in the Phantom VIII.
In the Indian market, the Cullinan Series II has a base price of 10.50 crore, ex-showroom. The beefier, Black Badge version would cost even more.
