Skoda Superb Now Selling With A Massive Discount Of 18 Lakh!

Skoda reintroduced the Superb in India in April last year, which is currently attracting heavy year-end discounts and benefits in some cities. The carmaker further brought back the sedan (which was quite popular once) in April this year, as a full import and with a hefty price tag around its shoulder. Since it was brought as a CBU, only 100 units were available for sale in India. It is these that we are talking about.

Best Time To Buy A Skoda Superb?

Upon its re-entry as a full import, the Superb had a price of 54 lakh rupees! All this money for an older generation petrol Skoda! The deal, if you reason, packed little value, no matter how hard you try to white-label it saying ‘it’s a CBU’. Unsurprisingly, sales were low. Reports say that at least 20-25 units of the 100 imported remain unsold! As 2024 nears its close, Skoda India is feeling forced to clear off its Superb inventory.

The carmaker’s Indian arm is currently offering heavy discounts and benefits on unsold Superb stock. The prices have been slashed by Rs 15-18 lakh in many cities! 18 lakh rupees shaved off its ex-showroom price, the imported Superb would cost almost the same as the locally assembled Superb, back when it was on sale here.

Interestingly, the money you save on the Superb is a few tens of thousands more than the on-road price of a top-spec Skoda Kylaq. The SUV’s range-topping Prestige (AT) costs 14.4 lakh, ex-showroom. This translates to an on-the-road price of 17.5 lakh- Rs 50,000 more than what you save on buying the Superb!

Skoda Superb Packs More Value With The New Prices

The on-road price now hovers around 38 lakh in most cities. The imported car packs ample value for 38 lakh, as it comes with Skoda’s dynamic chassis control, active tyre pressure monitors, nine airbags, and the bigger 9-inch Columbus Infotainment system, none of which were available on the CKD model. With these in place, the cabin experience and safety have improved, and value offered gone up!

Did Skoda Spoil It With The Import’s Pricing?

Honestly, yes! The import was initially priced too ambitiously. Many would find its 50+ lakh price tag to be unrealistic. Skoda tried to cash in on the existing Indian sentiments for the Superb nameplate and clear the leftover global stock. Soon after the third generation (B8) made its India return, the fourth generation Superb (B9) was out on sale in many global markets. This further raised questions about the value offered by the India-spec sedan.

Another manufacturer that we recently saw do terrible CBU pricing is Nissan. They priced the CBU XTrail in a way that it felt almost dead on arrival. At 49.92 lakh, ex-showroom, we knew if or not people were going to buy it or not. The manufacturer’s intention seems to have been liquidating unsold global stocks. Or was it financial desperation? You would have heard by now, about Nissan’s proposed merger with Honda and how it is struggling globally…

Unsold 2023 Skoda Superb Gets Over 18 Lakh Discounts!

Discounts on unsold 2023 Skoda Superb could be higher than 18 lakhs! If you manage to find an unsold, unregistered unit with a dealer, it could be a good deal. However, you should keep in mind that this is the locally assembled Superb that is at least two years old, and a discontinued car. The manufacturing year factor will definitely affect its resale value and the associated parameters.

Needless to say, all of these depend on stock availability and discounts could vary with cities. Happy Superb shopping!
