The Tata Altroz has been a familiar name in India’s premium hatchback space since 2020. But for the past three years, little has changed in terms of design or feature updates. Now, Tata Motors is ready to introduce a facelifted version of the Altroz, scheduled for launch on 21 May 2025.

Prices are expected to start from around ₹7 lakh and could go up to ₹11.5 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and engine choice. This slight upward shift in pricing reflects the design tweaks and additional features the facelift brings.

Fresh Design Changes on the Outside

Spy shots and early glimpses suggest that the 2025 Altroz will come with a noticeably sharper look. A reworked front bumper, vertical creases near the fog lamps, and sleeker LED elements in the headlamps and taillamps will give the car a more contemporary feel. A new alloy wheel design is also expected, along with fresh colour options to keep the model looking competitive against newer rivals.

While the changes may not be radical, they should be enough to keep the Altroz visually updated in a fast-moving segment.

Cabin Gets a Few Important Upgrades

Inside the cabin, Tata is likely to introduce some notable updates without completely overhauling the layout. A two-spoke steering wheel – similar to the one seen in the refreshed Tiago and Tigor – is likely to make its way here.

Higher variants could feature a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Ventilated front seats, a feature that previously appeared only on the Altroz Racer, may now be available on the regular top-end trims as well.

These changes are expected to enhance the everyday comfort and technology experience for drivers and passengers alike.

Engine and Transmission Options Remain Familiar

Under the skin, the Altroz facelift will largely carry forward the existing engine lineup. Buyers will still have a choice between a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (87 bhp, 115 Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel (88 bhp, 200 Nm). Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox for petrol variants.

For those seeking a bit more performance, the Altroz Racer, powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, will continue alongside the regular range.

CNG Variant Continues for Those Seeking Efficiency

Tata Motors is also expected to retain the CNG version of the Altroz. Powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine tuned for dual-fuel operation, the Altroz CNG delivers around 73.5 PS and 103 Nm when running on compressed natural gas. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The CNG variant provides a more economical alternative for buyers looking to lower their running costs without switching to full-electric mobility.

Segment Competition Heats Up

With the facelifted Altroz, Tata is aiming to refresh its offering against strong contenders like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Toyota Glanza. Design tweaks, feature enhancements, and the availability of petrol, diesel, and CNG options should help the Altroz stay relevant in this competitive segment.

The success of the facelift, however, will ultimately depend on how well buyers respond to the updates — both in terms of looks and the value they offer compared to alternatives.
