Tata Altroz Facelift vs Maruti Suzuki Baleno - How The Two Premium Hatchbacks Stack Up

Tata Motors will soon be launching the much-awaited Altroz facelift in India. This time around, this premium hatchback has been given a significant makeover, and it will help it in becoming a more popular vehicle in its segment. Today, we'll be looking at the details of the Altroz facelift and will be stacking it against the already popular Maruti Suzuki Baleno. So, without any delay, let's jump right into the comparison of these two hatchbacks.
First off, let's start with the exterior design of the Tata Altroz facelift. This time around, Tata Motors has revamped the entire front fascia of the Altroz, and it now looks a lot more modern and futuristic. It gets sleek twin-pod LED headlights with LED DRLs. It also gets a new front bumper that holds the LED fog lights and aligns it with the design of the Harrier, Safari, and Punch.
As for the side profile, the new Altroz comes with a set of newly designed directional diamond-cut alloy wheels and flush-type door handles. The rest of the silhouette has been kept the same. However, the rear has been changed like the front. At the rear, the new Altroz facelift gets a connected LED taillight, and it also gets a redesigned bumper. Overall, the Altroz facelift looks very bold and modern.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno, on the other hand, which is due for an update, boasts a more mature appearance. It does not look as modern and futuristic as the Altroz. However, as this design has been around, it has been accepted by a wide range of buyers. It gets LED DRLs, LED projector headlights, and simple fog lights. On the side profile, it also gets diamond-cut alloy wheels, and the rear gets simple C-shaped LED taillights with a standard rear bumper. Overall, it is not as flashy as the Altroz facelift.
Moving on to the interior, the Altroz has been given a brand-new layout, which is now dominated by a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster. Apart from these, the new Altroz cabin gets a single-pane electric sunroof, ambient lighting, and a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo. It will also come with a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and a 4 or 5-star safety rating.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno’s interior, like its exterior, is a lot simpler and does not come with as many features. It also gets a floating touchscreen infotainment system, but it is a smaller 9-inch unit. It also misses out on the digital instrument gauge cluster. However, it does get a heads-up display, 360-degree camera, and Suzuki Connect. It also comes with automatic climate control, six airbags, ABS, EBD, and others.
The Tata Altroz facelift will continue to get the same drivetrain options. There will be an Altroz for every type of buyer. It will be offered with a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine. The 1.2L turbo petrol engine of the Racer version will also be retained, along with the 1.2-litre iCNG option.
The Baleno, on the other hand, only comes with two options, namely the standard petrol and a CNG option. It comes equipped with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which makes 88 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the CNG version makes 76 bhp and 98.5 Nm of torque.
Pricingwise the Baleno currently starts at Rs 6.70 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 9.92 lakh. The upcoming Altroz facelift’s official price will be revealed on May 22, on the day of its launch.
