Tata Motors Opens 2 New EV-Only Dealerships In Kochi

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM), the EV vertical of Tata Motors, has opened two new EV-exclusive retail stores in Kochi, Kerala, under the ‘TATA.ev’ brand. The new showrooms, located in Edappally and Kalamassery, are designed to provide a unique purchasing and ownership experience, specifically tailored for the Tata EVs. Both locations are of strategic significance.
Electric vehicle adoption is rapidly increasing in India, and today’s buyers seek more than just a new car—they desire a distinctive and premium experience throughout the purchase and ownership journey. Tata’s new ‘TATA.ev’ stores are crafted to meet these evolving expectations by providing a modern, warm environment that transcends traditional car retail models.
These stores reflect Tata’s dedication to the community, technology, and sustainability at large. They are not mere purchase places for electric vehicles but also serve as spaces where EV enthusiasts can connect, learn, and engage with the brand’s core values.
Kerala is one of the leading markets for electric vehicles in India, with an impressive 5.6% EV penetration. The state’s progressive consumers have rapidly embraced new technologies, making Kerala an ideal location for Tata’s latest retail expansion, according to Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. “Kerala’s embrace of EVs made it the natural choice for launching these premium stores,” he remarked.
The TATA.ev store in Edappally is the largest of its kind in India, spanning over 8,800 square feet. It can showcase more than 10 vehicles and features ample parking for customers. Equipped with a 60 kW DC fast charger, the store also offers a variety of accessories under the TATA.ev Originals brand. In addition, a dedicated EV service facility with 17 bays will open soon, with the capacity to service over 800 vehicles per month.
The Kalamassery store, measuring 6,100 square feet, can display six vehicles and is equipped with a 60 kW DC fast charger. Similar to the Edappally store, it will soon be supported by an EV service facility featuring 11 mechanical bays, designed to handle over 700 vehicles per month.
Both stores will serve as community hubs for EV enthusiasts, hosting workshops and meet-ups for EVOLVE members. Designed as more than just retail spaces, these offer opportunities for learning and interaction. Customers can use a configurator screen to explore various Tata EV models, pricing, and features, while the “EV Demystifier” wall provides information on charging options and helps plan journeys by displaying available charging stations along their routes.
To enhance the inviting atmosphere, both locations feature a Blue Tokai café. Visitors can enjoy coffee and explore the store’s offerings, with a QR code available at the café to download a map of the store.
Tata Motors has been at the forefront of EV revolution in India. They enjoy extremely high market shares in the space and have a wide range of all-electric offerings spread across various segments and price points. Even during the recent global EV slowdown, Tata has stood strong with most of its popular EV models posting reassuring sales numbers. The newest EV launch from Tata is the Curvv.EV that is currently in huge demand. These new stores are expected to contribute much to Tata EV sales in Kerala.
