Also, the AC Fast Charging variants have been discontinued, and the Fast Charger is now available as an accessory. This move seems to be one that is aimed at keeping the price as affordable as possible. Moreover, the Tiago.EV is positioned as a city car with customers typically charging their cars at home, or at workplaces.

Powertrain and battery carried over

The Tiago.EV’s 2025 update is purely a facelift, and this means that the powertrain and battery remain more or less the same. The Medium Range variants get a 19.2 kWh battery pack while the Long Range variants get a 24 kWh battery pack.

While the Medium Range variants get an electric motor that makes 60 Bhp-110 Nm, the Long Range variants get an uprated motor with 74 Bhp-114 Nm. The gearbox is a single speed unit (automatic), and top speed is restricted to 120 Kmph.

The Tiago.EV hatchback is meant to be a city car and the spec sheet reflects that. The Tigor.EV is also expected to get similar changes shortly as the notchback sedan shares its platform and parts with its hatchback sibling.

Pricing

As for pricing, the Tiago.EV will continue to be one of the most affordable electric cars one can buy in India, with prices starting from 7.99 lakh rupees for the Medium Range XE trim, going all the way up to Rs. 11.14 lakh for the Long Range XZ Tech Lux trim.

The Tiago hatchback has been a huge success for Tata Motors right from get go. Sales crossed the 6 lakh mark recently. Launched in 2015,  the car was initially meant to be called the Zica but the Zika virus made Tata change the name to Tiago. The Tiago was launched with petrol and diesel variants, while CNG and electric trims were added later. The diesel variants have now been discontinued and the Tiago is now available with petrol, CNG and electric powertrains.
