This Indian Actress Owned A Rolls Royce More Than 50 Years Before Priyanka Chopra Bought Hers

Today, we are remembering the popular actress from the 1950s – Nadira. Apart from her being one of the most important movie stars in history, she was also the first Indian actress to own a Rolls-Royce car. She bought a Rolls-Royce car long before Priyanka Chopra bought her Rolls-Royce Ghost.

For those who may not be aware, the Bollywood actress Nadira was born into a Baghdadi Jewish family, and her name was Ezekiel. She made her debut as a teen movie star in 1943 with the film “Mauj.” However, it was her remarkable role in the 1952 film “Aan” that brought her to stardom. Apart from “Aan,” she also performed in popular movies like “Shree 420,” “Pakeezah,” “Amar Akbar Anthony,” and was critically acclaimed in “Julie,” for which she was awarded the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress as well.

Actress Nadira’s Rolls-Royce

Not much is known about her Rolls-Royce car that she bought. However, it has been stated that she managed to buy this luxury car despite starting off with a modest salary of Rs 1200. Over the years, she also managed to become one of the highest-paid actresses of her time. It has also been reported that at the peak of her career in Bollywood, actress Nadira was paid Rs 3,600 for her acting in movies, which may not sound like much today but was extremely high back when she was part of Bollywood.

Priyanka Chopra’s Rolls-Royce Ghost

As mentioned, Priyanka Chopra is the first modern actress from Bollywood to own a Rolls-Royce. The actress bought herself a brand new Rolls-Royce Ghost Series I. The actress got her Rolls-Royce Ghost finished in a dual-tone paint scheme of silver and black. The body panels of her car were painted in a classy shade of metallic black; however, the bonnet and roof were finished in silver color. Presently, her Rolls-Royce Ghost resides in Bangalore. This happened after the actress moved to the United States of America and decided to sell it to a business from Bangalore, Karnataka.

For those who may not know, the Rolls-Royce Ghost Series I came powered by a massive 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine. This behemoth engine produces an impressive 562 bhp of max power and a peak torque of 780 Nm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Apart from the now-sold Rolls-Royce, the actress owns a Mercedes Maybach S650. Unlike her Rolls-Royce, which she bought for herself, this luxurious sedan was gifted to her by Nick Jonas, who is her husband. It comes with a 6.0-litre V12 engine that has been twin-turbocharged. It produces 630 bhp of max power and 1,000 Nm of peak torque.
