Honda Cars India has launched the third-generation Amaze in the country at an attractive price. The compact sedan is available in three variants- V, VX and ZX and the ex-showroom price now starts at 7.99 lakh. A recent video shared on The Car Show shows the range-topping ZX variant (manual) in detail, and explains what it packs in terms of equipment.

The host starts the video by showing the exterior design and saying that the ex-showroom price of this variant is 9.69 lakh. The range-topping Amaze gets full LED lighting. The headlamps look good and have a dual-pod LED design. The indicators/ DRLs look good, too.

The fog lamps now sit on handsome housings and are LED units as well. The grille is fairly large and would remind you of the Elevate with its design. The car rides on 15-inch alloy wheels and 185/ 60 rubber. The door handles are covered in Chrome. Boosting the premium appeal, the ORVMs come with integrated indicators.

The rear looks a lot like that of the City now. The tail lamps have good-looking designs and LED elements inside. There is also a rear parking camera and sensors offered. However, unlike the previous generations that used to come with four of these, the new Amaze gets just two. The car also gets an India-friendly ground clearance and turning radius for added convenience.

The host soon moves to the interior. The top-spec Amaze has a handsome-looking cabin. The key now looks a lot like that of the Elevate. The instrument cluster is a semi-digital unit with an analogue speedometer on the right and a digital screen on the left. The screen can be controlled through the press of a few buttons on the steering wheel. The wheel offers just tilt adjustment.

The new Amaze comes with a Lane Watch camera, which can be quite useful in Indian road conditions. The centre stage has a new 8-inch touchscreen that comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. The car also comes with a wireless charging pad, manual Day/night IRVM, electrically folding/adjustable ORVMs, and steering-mounted audio and cruise controls. There is no sunroof offered.

Even the top-spec comes with comfortable fabric seats. These are particularly useful in hot, humid climates. There are, however, no armrests offered. The carmaker has also given the car rear AC vents. The host also explains the rear room, and says that the rear seat gets ample rooms for knees, legs and head.

The boot space is reportedly the best in its segment- 420L. The spare wheel is a 14-inch unit and a few changes can be seen in the boot design, compared to the previous model. Efforts to maximise the room while cutting costs are visible.

As a first in its segment, the new Amaze comes with level 2 ADAS. It has also become India’s most affordable car to offer an ADAS suite. The functions here are much like what you’d see on the City and Elevate.

In terms of powertrains, the new Amaze makes do with the same engine and transmission choices as before. It draws its juice from a 1.2L iVTEC naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 90hp and 110 Nm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual and a CVT. Gearbox choices are offered in all three variants. (The variant lineup starts with V, and now you know why!) The CVT versions come with paddle shifters as well.
