At the upcoming Bharat Mobility Auto Expo, which will commence on the 17th of January, the Indo-Japanese automotive giant Toyota Kirloskar Motor will be showcasing four new SUVs. Toyota Urban Cruiser Electric

One of the most highly anticipated models from Toyota will be the Urban Cruiser Electric SUV. Based on Maruti Suzuki’s eVitara, the new Urban Cruiser Electric will be offered with two battery pack options. The smaller one will be the 49 kWh pack, offered with a 144 PS and 189 Nm of torque-producing electric motor that will send power to the front wheels.

Meanwhile, the other option will be a 61 kWh battery pack, which will come with both FWD and AWD configurations and an electric motor making 184 PS and 300 Nm of torque. It is believed that the bigger battery pack variant will offer a maximum range of 550 km on a single full charge. In terms of design, it will get full-width LED DRLs and LED headlights at the front and connected LED taillights at the rear.

As for the interior, it will be offered with a feature-loaded cabin. Its list of features will include a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a 10.1-inch digital driver’s display, a JBL audio system, a fixed glass roof, ADAS Level 2, and many others. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 25-30 lakh.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder 7-seater

Another SUV from the Urban Cruiser family will be the 7-seater version of the Hyryder. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder 7-seater will boast a longer wheelbase to accommodate the additional row of seats in the rear. It will also get a redesigned front and rear end.

As for the powertrain, Toyota will offer it with the same 1.5-litre strong hybrid petrol engine, which is capable of making 114 bhp. There will also be a 1.5-litre mild hybrid engine option, which will make 102 bhp. As for the transmission options, there will be a 5-speed manual as well as an eCVT gearbox. It will compete with the likes of the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and Hyundai Alcazar.

Toyota Fortuner MHEV

Fortuner mild hybrid

Toyota has not made any significant powertrain changes to the already popular Fortuner in India. However, this year the company is planning to offer this SUV a mild hybrid treatment. It will come equipped with a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine paired with a 48V mild hybrid system. It is expected to make 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque.

With this new powertrain, the SUV is expected to offer a fuel efficiency figure of 13.15 kmpl. Currently, the standard diesel variant offers 12.66 kmpl. As for the other upgrades, it could get new redesigned alloy wheels, a 360-degree camera, and the Toyota Safety Sense ADAS suite. Pricing-wise, it is expected to start at Rs 33.43 lakh.

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

Another major launch from the brand could be the Land Cruiser Prado 250. This unique retro boxy SUV will sit above the Fortuner and below the Land Cruiser LC300. It is expected to match its rugged off-roader design with equally capable off-road systems. Its list could include a multi-terrain select system, crawl control, and downhill assist.

It could also get full-time 4WD with an electronic locking rear differential and multi-link rear suspension. Powering this SUV could be a 2.4-litre turbo engine paired with a 1.87 kWh battery pack. In total, it is expected to produce around 326 bhp and 630 Nm of torque. Pricing could be in the range of Rs 80-90 lakh.
